My DJ friend says he's still operating with a coal-fired, steam-driven amplifier, but somehow I doubt they were invented yet when he started out. (Talk about "elderly").

What is the oldest show equipment you've had in continuous use? Mine are the original German-made Mackie SRM-450 powered speakers, and my trusty SM-58 wireless... both are 16 years old. My dual-tray Denon, purchased in 1994, was still working fine when I put it out to pasture last year.

That is a hard one Earl, I have changed my equipment over the years, due to break downs, and down sizing with retirement. I have sold quite a bit of my old equipment. Have just given some away. most of my passive speakers, and the amps to power them are gone. I have gone through quite a few mixers as well. Several disc players have been replaced due to wear and inability to obtain replacement parts. The two things that have been with me the longest are my U-Best hard drive players. I have had them for it seems like forever and they still do the job. I have over 9,000 tracks on one, both audio and karaoke. The bigger one has over 18,500 karaoke tracks and another 5,000 audio. I really never used a lab top since it was easier just to punch the number and go. Everyone tells me my system is one of a kind, nobody has seen one like it locally. Though retired I'm still asked if I would come out of retirement, and work full time. Not going to happen. Unlike you I'm not going to die in harness, with a mic in my hand. Oh man, just thinking about this makes me feel nostalgic!

Oldest piece I had in continuous use was my SoundTech PS802 Digital 800 watt amp (230 w/channel RMS). I used it 18 years from 1999 until I retired it just last year. Just can't find 15" speakers anymore that will run on that power.

Does a cone count? I'm still using a 10" cone from my first wedge monitor, bought in 1999 as well. I cannibalized it to fix a Fender 1270P powered monitor I still use today.

Only piece of gear that is still in active use today from when I put it in my rack in 93 is an Alesis Midiverb 3. I still have some older amps and speakers in storage that still work and sound good, just heavy to move anymore.

I still have an older speaker, great sound..

So I guess the old 15" passive Kustom speaker would work after all. 100 watts (200 watts program).

Not with the actual specs of that amp at 230 watts into 8 ohms.

Sorry Lonnie I have used powered speakers for so long now, I'm really out of practice matching a power amp to passive speaker.

A 21 yr old unit still in service to play my singers’ cdgs. The good ol’ reliable Pioneer pd-v10g dual tray cdg player bought in 1997.

Only one question Brian where do you take it for repair, and how about spare parts?

I’ll be s**t out of luck. I think replacement parts for this unit is no longer available. Thru the years it conked-out only once. The trays wouldn’t close all the way in. The load gear mechanism was couple of teeth off. Just carefully removed the belt and realigned the gear.

But no worries. My 2nd rig is also equipped with the same cdg player circa 1999.

I just never figured out where that extra 30 watt bonus comes from!

Most of the older Peavey widows I use to use, are heavy, 15 in over 80 pounds, and were a bear to lift, as opposed to QSC K 12s at 42 pounds. Also you had to carry a heavy amplifier. I recently helped a lady with a 22 yo Mackie mixer, which was in storage for 15 years, and the special effects were dead. Newer equipment is lighter, connections universal, better electronics. I'd say older mics should be OK in storage. All of it also depends also how it's being stored in a cool dry area, as opposed to hot damp one.
