Ok.. i'm not sure if any of you are experiencing this, or perhaps have experienced it and may know what is going on. It seems that every time I want to reply to a comment that is given me on my songs, when the reply window pops up, Internet Explorer starts running and REALLLLY bogs down my computer until I can get it closed.. It's almost as if it's a popup.. a reallly slow and resource hungry one

This has only been happening to me for the past two days, and it seems to only happen on this site. It's become so that I keep the task manager open all the time, so that when I know it's going to happen, I can try to "zap" Internet Explorer as soon as possible to unfreeze my computer. (when IE does open, it takes up ALL of the system's resources)

I've run all of my spyware programs and cleaned them all out,.. I dunno what this is.. Do any of you techies know what might be going on?? Thanks in advance for any advice that you are able to give me. This is danged frustrating especially since I really enjoy my time on the showcase, and this thing is making it a pain in da butt... Awaiting any knowledgeable replies...

Ok.. just found out that it's not JUST this site that triggers this to happen. Certain other ones do too.. I dunno if maybe it is a java thing that triggers it since the reply boxes have something to do with java (if i'm not mistaken) I'm doing some net research right now to try to figure this out, but I heartily welcome anyone who knows computer stuff like this to offer any suggestions! thanks again

Jazzy, Im no techie but .. have you done a CONTROL-ALTERNATE-DELETE .... and eyeballed the programs running on your system? Sometimes something will be running and not show on a spyware scan. If so ... click end task... and see if that helps. Good Luck. Cindy

download Spybot Search and Destroy from Download.com as well as Adware's Lavasoft SE. Both are free, and have online updates.

ANYTIME you think you're being bogged down, do that.

Also, if you want to check for tunneling worms or virii, you can go to housecall.trendmicro.com ... thery have a tiny install program, and then you can scan from there. Depending on the size of your system, and your connection speed, it runs quite well.

Great Idea! I run this.. and Sophos as my two primary scan programs. Will say tho... every once in a while... I'll find something running on the system... (C-A-D) that I can't identify... and if I End Task... system does seem to run a bit better. Maybe a coincidence??? :?

Another idea:

Could it be a pop-up blocker gone awry?

Cuz those are also "pop up windows" that you're having trouble with it sounds like.

I had this happen to me yesterday on Win XP SP2 with the popup blocker turned on. Even killing IE didn't help - ended up restarting entire PC anyway. Nothing out of the ordinary was running for services or apps in my Taks Manager.

Thank you so much you guys for all of the wonderful suggestions..

Knight.. I'm running all of those tools as I type this, and unfortunately YES I have a ton of stuff on my computer.. Some of it is being deleted and cleaned automatically and some I am just having to do manually (hopefully I won't blow up the computer) I hope this clears the trouble up

Foxy.. there is a possibility that is part of the problem.. I just installed sp2 the other day right before this started.. I'm not sure how to turn the popup blocker off though? Is that in the control panel somewhere??

Thanks again to all of you.. I'm sooo ticked at how easily this stuff gets on your computer.. It makes me afraid to go to the most innocent looking pages. I HATE those dang lyric sites... they are a HUGE culprit on my puter.. I dunno where else to get lyrics though, that won't download crap to my puter.. *sigh* Anyways, i'm off to finish cleaning the computer.. wish me luck and I hope this fixes the problem(s) :)

Go to "TOOLS" on the IE menu, 2nd option on mine is POPUP blocker - it should have a submenu with that option, one to turn off and other to adjust settings.

HTH
