As far as I can tell, the HDV-201A is a DVD/Midi player. Does the CD that you have show the format? Is it a Midi disk, or does it state CD&G?

I actually have a DVD disk. There are 2 folder on the disk. MID0 and VIDEO_TS. The outside say MP3 + GRAPHICS.

The content of VIDEO_TS is just the background video.
The content of MID0 folder is whole bunch of files with the .DAT extension. I know it has many many many song in it. I just can not read or extract or play it on the computer.

As far as CDG, I don't know for sure.

Thank you for the reply

Sounds like it's a hybrid player that uses midi for the songs. Try copying a .dat file to your computer and changing the extension to .mid.

the HDV-201A is the CAVS DVD/karaoke player and format shown here http://www.dtskaraoke.com/cavplathd1.html ... you can go to the CAVS website and buy/download the encoder/decorder... they also have a PC player that will allow you to play the songs on the disk on your PC called PlaySCDG... you must have a DVD -Rom in your PC to be able to read the disk... here are links to their site:
