I've seen the CAVS systems, but i was wondering if there are any other companies that make Karaoke systems on Hard drive that you can purchase pre-loaded? Thanks for the help!

Well that gives a good explanation. Now we all know what you're talking about.

Note the 'pre-loaded' comment.

It's not legal to 'pre-load' a system unless they also provide original media as well. You could preload a system and include discs but all you're saving is time and spending money.

I've considered a pre-loaded system a number of times but didn't go with any of them because they didn't come with original media to make them legal. Theoretically, they 'could' offer those tracks in a digital format if permitted to by the manufacturer but every time I asked about the legalities I either got no comment or they requested an affidavit from my saying that I owned all the tracks on the system (which I didn't).

The KAPA may not have teeth and the DOJ may have more important things to do than check my show for being legal but I'm not taking that chance.

Not all entirely true. There are a couple companies that do allow CAVS to load their machines. Sound Choice is NOT one of them. A couple of the companies are NuTech (crap), Top Hits Monthly (not PHM), & Sweet Georgia Brown if i'm not misten, plus they have a bunch of their own MIDI crap that you'd most likely delete the first day anyway.

I was not aware of anyone allowing for pre-loading of machines, so I stand corrected.

I do appreciate the heads up though, Lonman. I still recommend they take care and perform some due diligence on what's being loaded and that it's above board.

Richard found a guy selling a complete set of DK's preloaded on a hard drive on Ebay, 10 available. Richard emailed the guy and asked if he had the rights to the music, the guy said he was just selling hard drives that just happened to be loaded with DK's and asked Richard "What business is it of yours?" Richard contacted Ebay, they investigated and the auction was shut down almost immediately. After the auction was shut down Richard replied that he was a karaoke disc & supply distributor & that people like him hurt the industry & he had contacted the appropriate companies.

Richard also reported the guy's website to Sound Choice and Chartbuster as he is selling 2 Custom CDG's with 30 songs for $65.00. To choose your song you preview his artist or title collection & pick the songs plus two alternates.

If we were sneakier people we'd have a hard drive that just happened to be pre-loaded with DK's!!

P.S. If the admin would like the website for the advertisers on this site we'll be happy to give it...
