Post subject:  Zip Cdg's

First post here. Been doing Karaoke since 1991.

My question is: I have zipped over 10,000 cdg's and want to find a program that will play them. I started with the first cdg and labeled it:

0001 . Can I search with Hoster or Sax N Dotty with a number: example, can I type in 872 and it bring up that folder, I open it and move the song to the play list ?

If it won't do that does anyone know of a software that will ? I want to keep the cdg's zipped because I just purchased a KJ disc and that makes another 1,000 cdg's.

Thanks in advance :D

Use MP3Karaoke... It can be found...

The guy that wrote this program doesn' support it anymore, but it still works fine...

It uses Zips and plays through Winamp with CDG plugin

see my post about the songbook.. ;-)

sax & dotty's also makes a "zip player" as well as their hoster.

I would use another program, say a directory printer, that allows you to print out the folder contents into a .txt file. From that file, you can do a FIND or search in the file for the name you're looking for. You can also use windows explorer "search" function for a given name of the song if it's properly labeld!

If you use windows explorer (with the folder view) you can type the number and the highlighted portion will move to that folder. Press the right arrow key and then click the song.

Not as elegant as some solutions, but it does work.

the new desktop search engines that are available from Google, MSn and a few others are VERY fast in searching your hard drives for files... much faster than the default windows "search" function... another option- tig

The program called Hoster from MTU can play MP3G Tracks - You can now add karaoke MP3+G compressed songs to the Playlist. Playing ZIP files will release in January.

The other program, a free download (and really cool) is called KaraWin. Do a google search on KaraWin, this one plays zip files and MP3G Tracks.

We've tried Sax and Dotties.. Not bad overall.. We know of other's that use it and like it.

The program that we use does directory scans and adds the file names and location to an access database.. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as some of the others, but then again... when your trying to keep track of a running list of 20 songs and singers, you don't need bells and whistles.. just sanity.. ;-) If you can't find the program, drop me a note offline and I'll try adn help you with it..
