Yep... I'm a new one too... and really enjoying the unselfish advise. My name is Frank Gonzalez and I'm from Miami. My first foray into Karaoke was 5 years ago on an Anniversary cruise with my wife... Found the Karaoke club and spent almost every night there... After that... about 1-1/2 years ago, we had a Karaoke party at my church... lots of fun... the KJ (I didn't know that's what he was) was very patient and had an incredible selection of music. We ended up hiring him for my wife's birthday... Then my buddy hired him... I was bitten by the bug! I already had a small PA that I used for church and my band of brothers + my cousin... who play only one gig a year (my birthday). So I bought me a cheapola Lasonic CDG... began buying discs on EBAY... discovered that quality varies wildly. Then I needed a second one... so I bought a VocoPro player and a VocoPro mixer... Did three house party's for friends... lots of fun... Decided I'm going bigger... Sold all my stuff on EBAY... got a Numark dual CDG player and a bigger VocoPro mixer... People ask what I want for Christmas... CDG's... I have a wish list... I'm typically known for my obsessive compulsive behavior... guess what I'm obesessing about lately? To start with, my plans are to do small house and church parties, for free to start, to gain experience and a library... I have only about 1000 songs, with some repeats... Some low quality VCD's... which I'm getting rid of... Another challenge I face is the variety of public down here in Miami... where Spanish Karaoke is a must, but the CDG's are expensive and many have Mexican music, which the Cubans, Puertoricans, Dominicans, Colombians and Venezuelans down here don't listen to. Anyway... thanks for listening and for sharing your experiences... Adios, |

welcome to the site Frank! I hope to see you not only absorbing advice, but also, giving it out in return! One thing I've learned over the years is, I don't know everything... people from other walks of life always have experience in stuff I don't have! So not only am I a big mouth when it comes to stuff I know, I also know when to shut up and listen to those that have walked down paths I haven't trodden yet! |
