Post subject:  help on clarity to mp3

:( i am just learning to record my portable mp3 ,which i just purchased a couple of days ago. first i held the gpx which is a 32 kbps 1 foot from the speakers on my karaoke machine , as i first played 6 songs that i previously recorded to a cd , the sound seemed to be not as clear as what i listen to in singers showcase. i also recorded 4 songs to the little mp3 recorder , while singing live from the karaoke machine, and this sound was still not as clear as the cd i made. either way, i would be embarrased to send a recording, even after i find a way to send it. should the recording be made directly into the computer? in my mp3 setup on line, and again i'll have to wait for help there , as i am a novice there as well. when your over 60 and just learning it takes a lot of trial and error, so any little help will be appreciated till i get my son in law to advise, as he was the one who initially hooked up the karaoke machine to the computer to make the cd , which is clear. i guess by reading some of your tech help, i should tell him to rip it from the files its in , put in mp3 and send it . is that correct? thank you

If the portable recorder only records at 32kbps, it is really only suited to spoken voice recording, not music. It's like trying to listen to a CD over the phone. I'd guess the portable can probably play sound at higher quality, such as 128kbps, but not record.

Even if you had to record with cassette first, you would get much better results recording directly to the computer and then converting the WAV file to an MP3.

Hope that helps.
