Do any of you KJ's use some type of pitch correction? If so, what?

So far as I know, every karaoke player I've used has it built in. I had a harder time with tempo (Hoster, Swift Elite 4.0 have it, Just karaoke does not).

If you are using Winamp to run karaoke, You can find a pitch and tempo control plug ins.

What are you using to host karaoke?

I believe he's talking autotune, not song key change ability. lol

tc-helicon has a wide variety of equipment that does this.

I've recently purchased a perform v unit but it's not full featured like the rest of their stuff, but you can download presets from an app to the unit for customized effects.
also i have a voicelive touch original recommend the voicelive touch 2 for the hit button and pre programmed effects you can install. the hit button is like a secondary effects button that turns on a subgroup of different effects. useful like when singing chorus or a verse, you just tap the hits button to switch between the two modes.

i also have an antares avp-1, stay away it's hard to use. you have to know the cord the song is in and set it up in the settings really quick. and it's hard to work with setting up initially until you learn how to use it. tc-helicon is just easier to use.

all the tc helicon stuff have an aux in you can feed your music into and it will auto detect the cord being played and set autotune/pitch correction accordingly.

the perform v is probably the cheapest choice $150-199 everything else is going to cost you above the $300 mark.

lots of info on youtube about all their products.

autotune is hard to sing with so you don't want to be in front of you speakers when singing because you hear yourself singing then a corrected version coming out of the speakers. and it can mess with you until you get use to it. but only takes a song or two to figure it out.

How are people going to learn to sing if they use pitch correction? Half the fun of watching karaoke is seeing who can sing and who can't. It does a disservice to those who can sing.

I've been using TC-Helicon XT Correct.
When the pitch correction is on it can sound a little like a harmonizer effect to the singer only as "mightywiz" said. Hence some people like and some don't. Something to do with phase differences but the overall end effect to the audience is good.

The Anti feedback function is also good especially for small venues.
I like it but hey it's all in the ear of the beholder!

can make a night fun! small crowd, bring out the autotune and have on 100% and watch the fun your singers will have.

then they'll start asking you "when you going to bring the autotune again"!

just something i offer in my area that no one else does.

no, we don't run out mic's into our pc's so what good would a plugin do us. we are host's running live karaoke we only use our pc's for our hosting software and we don't want to autotune the backing music.
