If you try even just a little bit, you can easily get past the restriction and buy downloads from them... or any UK manu. I don't want to post how to do it, cause it Zoom and the other manus might sniff it out and try to shut the method down. Here's a hint though- "VIRTUALLY- change where you live." |

I know of what you speak. Been there, done that, before. Interesting. I did NOTHING different, and now I am back in. |

Teach them all a lesson and download whatever you want from them for free. I'm not going to post exactly how to do it but there are ways to bypass their restrictions |

I'd rather pay and support the guys who make the stuff. They give me a chance to get the stuff that I want. If I steal from them, then they go out of business. Again, there are ways to still pay them for the downloads... I'll just put it bluntly... just create an address that's in the UK when you sign up. You don't get sent anything on the physical address as everything is download. And pay with your paypal accout. Works for me everytime with every manu. But, whatever floats your boat if you go the shady route. |

Weird. |

I can assure you that VPN technology is no secret. |

Bazza wrote: I can assure you that VPN technology is no secret. Now that sounds like you're jumping through hoops. It's not even that hard. PLAINLY, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, JUST MAKE A FAKE UK ADDRESS. Then when you pay, use PAYPAL. It's that simple. No messing with your router, network, computer, or any settings. I just don't get why people complain about the lockout of the US comtomers by the UK manus. |

Honestly, I don't see anything illegal about it. You're being dishonest, yes. but I don't think you are breaking any laws. You can disagree on my prior statement. But this cannot be disputed- the $$$ you are paying the manufacturer can only be a good thing... you get your songs, the manu gets the money to survive and create new songs. |

If you bypass security measures designed to protect against copyright infringement, then yes, you are breaking the law. U.S. copyright law requires that sales of copyrighted articles be licensed, either in the U.S. or abroad. The UK producer you're referencing licenses its downloads through MCPS, through the LOML+ license. The LOML+ license only allows downloads to be sent to specific territories and specifically excludes the U.S. and Canada. When you circumvent the technical restrictions against purchasing LOML+ licensed songs in the U.S., you are inducing the UK producer to break the terms of the LOML+ license under false pretenses. The song you're downloading is not licensed anywhere, and as such, it's a copyright infringement, and your act of inducement is a common-law fraud. (It's also possible that circumventing a technical restriction for the purpose of accessing copyrighted material in that way is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, but I haven't examined the question in enough detail to say for sure.) I'll leave it to your own conscience to determine whether you should do it or not, but there really isn't any wiggle room on the question: You are breaking the law if you do this. |

and you're breaking the law when you drive 56 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The odds of being prosecuted are about the same. |

It's not something I would worry about. I can still access SBI, right off without changing my info. So it's not my problem if they aren't going to block my purchases. |

Here's a question then. Say I was vacationing in the UK, and I bought a track from Zoom website. I'm in the UK during purchase. I get home to the US, can I play the track in the US? Am I breaking copyright laws in that instance? What if a friend fro the UK bought the tracks for me and sent them to me? Is that still breaking the law? |

I am not going to circumvent filters to gain access to downloads. It's not my job to say which over seas download hosts are "legal" in the US. If I go to a download site, and its open, I assume they are OK to purchase. If I go to a site that is blocked, then I assume they are either not "legal" or someone who is responsible are questioning whether they are "legal". Of course I am referring to the ones like Sunfly, Zoom, ect. The ones that are known to not be illegal are not worth dealing with, quality wise, anyway. |

Am I breaking copyright laws in that instance? As long as you were physically in the UK when you downloaded the track, you're good to go. That's the holding in Kirtsaeng v. Wiley & Sons, a Supreme Court case from a couple of years ago. ctwentytwo wrote: What if a friend fro the UK bought the tracks for me and sent them to me? Is that still breaking the law? If the friend in the UK bought them, stored them on hard media, and sent you the hard media, that's fine. If the friend sent you a copy via the internet, that's not legal. |
