I'm curious as to what sort of holdings of Chartbuster CD+G discs people have. The poll is, insofar as I am aware, anonymous, so feel free to give the real answer. Note that I am only talking about discs, not SD cards or hard drives. We are testing the new CB registration system and expect to make it available this week. |

I'm very familiar with this PHP forum software.... It's not anonymous.... Even the passwords here are not anonymous. |

Considering that I have neither the time nor the inclination to find out who might be answering the poll, nor would I know what to do with that information if I did, it is effectively anonymous. I am simply trying to get some feeling for the magnitude of a common set of holdings. This is not a scientific poll. |

Looks like there are plenty of people who don't have the time or inclination to assist you in sizing up your next target market- if you get my drift. |

I have the set of Cavs CB essentials set 1-6 (450 songs x 6 = 2700 songs) if you want to include. |

O.K. I put on my asbestos underwear before posting this Itchy stuff The poll for a CB disk count seemed to pop up shortly after the discussion about making the registration to use/media shift the ChartBuster trademark. I would like to give the benefit of doubt here as to suggest that the idea is to judge how best to set up a pricing and exemption structure and I hope nothing more. In Regards to Sony Tricerasoft's software and concept would be VERY useful to a company like Sony. I strongly believe they have a "ready to go" subscription or unlockable karaoke product on the shelf. Acquiring full control of the libraries would be a necessary cost-effective step while converting the unpaid fees into a usable asset without having to buy them. They certainly wouldn't involve PEP based on my experience with them as they can simply overpower them in the market. They also like to buy out lawyers via proxy.................. |

I'm just trying to figure out, among other things, where to put the breakpoint if we offer a lower price or free registration for people who own only a few discs. |

I really think people who have under 10 CDs should be free to register, with the provision that if they go over 10 CDs they would have to pay for the registration costs. It would be a good will gesture in my opinion. |

I believe that anyone who registers is being played for a fool. What should it matter to a KJ if they register or not? Just because PEP "wants to know who has the product?" |

I don't think its foolish for someone to decide if paying the registration fee is right for them. Anyone who has a considerable amount of CB product might feel with worth it to spend a few bucks now then deal with headaches later. PEP sues people as their primary business model. It's no surprise to me that they got the CB registration policy in gear before they put out a new SC track. It's pure extortion I agree, but I will say, getting tangled up with a lawsuit from PEP will cost you far more then the $50/system they want from you. Because they bought the trade dress, they will do their best to make money off it by suing KJs. We already know they plan only to release public domain tracks, and don't intend to further the CB line by releasing new product. What else are they going to do with it? Considering how many KJs they sued in the past, I am sure that will be the first place they go to try out this new round of lawsuits. They have data on KJs already, and have made it VERY clear that the previous lawsuits handle SC product only. It won't be hard to do, look at a few old files and the case is half built already, they just need to send out some kind of notice and give people some time to send the checks. Who knows, the 1st round of lawsuits might even come before a SC karaoke track is made. It's just more profitable for them. |

With just 6 Super CDG's I find it pointless to pay to register those. I can see paying a small fee based on 50disks or more. |

While its 6 SCDGs, it comes out to 2700 songs total. Each set was 450 songs and were 30 CDGs each. I won't speak for PEP on how they will treat it, but I'd bet against it being 6 "CDGs". |

But it's still a very manageable six discs. Easy to account for in a single pic. |

I'd wait until PEP wins a case against someone with CB discs before I would send them a penny. Let them file their paper work and pay all of their filing fees and then just show up in court with your SCDG discs and let the judge see that you own the music on original discs. I believe that the judge would send the trollers home with empty pockets. Chartbuster has been out of business for years and the only reason their trademark was purchased was so that they could use it to shake down customers of a company that doesn't even exist any longer. Sound Choice has already been called a trolling enterprise by one judge already. PEP will get the same reputation in less time than SC did. It's easier to scare people into paying them than it is to actually create something that people want to buy. |

I don't think it should be based on the number of discs. I think it should be based on the number of tracks. |

Pay attention Chris.... really. They don't care about your hard drive because they can't sue you for it... or the SCDG discs... or the SD cards. Those were intended to be played by using a computer... Their business model is built on "disc purchases" and not "digital purchases." Registering anything with them is just fueling the lawsuit machine. |

If it were on a per track basis, I would pay a lot more than most. i am fine with that because I have a lot more. |
