Alrighty...Half of my songs are not getting ranked, people are listening just not ranking....I don't know if it is because it is bad, or maybe they just don't feel like commenting on it, so that makes them not want to rank cause they know it will show their name up with no comment ...which brought me to another suggestion maybe if you couldnt tell who ranked your songs.....like your name not coming up if you didnt comment...anyway I know I babble too much and my sentences run together LMBO I just want you guys to know if ya listen to me I really would like to ranked whether you comment or not it doesn't bother me if you dont add a comment with it just knowing that you came to listen is good enough for me even if I get a 1 rank ...... You can add to this if ya want but not neccesary I just wanted to make a request if you listen to my subs Thanks EricaRoane

HUH? Again, I'm cofused???

When someone ranks your submission no one can see what rank they have given?

Also, please note that not everyone wishes or feels qualified to rank. Additionally, each submission requires at least three people to provide a rank prior to it being displayed as the overall rank until then you see "Rank Unavailable"

I am working on adding a few new features (as I've eluded to elsewhere)
1) a no comments option
2) Private or Public comments.
3) the number of comments will only be displayed on the song information and profile pages.
4) I know there were some others < scratching head > I can't think of them???

uggg no I am saying when you rank someone your name still comes up on their screen with nothing in the comment box.... anyway I mainly put this here just to request for people to rank me even if they dont want to comment. Thats all it is just a REQUEST to be ranked Thanks EricaRoane:)

Check Box: No Comment (when the ranks are permitted) then they will not show up with blank comments? But I would think that someone would want to provide some comment if they decide to rank??? Just my thoughts...

Well I would think so too guru (about the comment and rank together) but I did an experiment just to see maybe if that was why I hadnt got ranked much ....like if they didnt want me to know they were there then they wouldnt comment nor rank cause their name would be on my page heck I dunno I think I am starting to confuse myself.... why did you reply LMBO JK OTS (off the subject) hey guru read my other suggestions in the singers forum under the subject "silly suggestion?" I like to listen to as much as I can, regardless of the genre and then try to offer any constructive criticisms that I can, which I think is much more helpful than a rating, anyway. The way I look at it, almost every submission here would deserve at least a 9, with almost none lower than a 7, simply because the amount of work that is put into each submission and the heartfelt effort that obviously goes into each song (not to mention that the quality of almost every song is great and unique in its own way). If I have missed yours, I appologize, along with all of the others that I can't get to simply because of time restraints. I think a better way to go might be a "Star" rating, as was previously suggested--- maybe 1 to 4 stars for ratings? May I suggest that if you (or anyone else) so strongly desires to be rated, than maybe ask out-right in the description?

Well I see I have started something now didnt mean to just wanted to make a request to be ranked. You have listened to me before DyingMoose I don't want every description of all my songs to say please rank so that is why I put it here...so if you generally listen to me you would know that I would like to be ranked.....as in the beginning it's just a request EricaRoane

Erica you have a valid point so it is good that you brought it up...don't worry that ya "started something" or are babbling, cuz you're not.

It's really hard to tell sometimes (for me at least) exactly the "why" of a lot of Showcase stuff...so don't worry girlfriend your experience is prolly totally the norm. At least ya know you're not alone.

But for me it's always been a mystery of why a given sub would have lotsa views but little comments, lotsa comments but little rank, lotsa comments and lotsa ranks..hmm I guess that's all the combos, but you know what I'm sayin'. I'm a person that is always asking "why, why, why" just like some lil kid, so you can imagine the wonderings I've done.

I don't think I'll ever know all the reasons of the SS why's...just want you to know I'm sure you're far from the only one that's pondered such stuff about your songs.

That is exactly why I respond to such things because I've been there, done that!! I wanted to be responded to and warmly welcomed and helped out when I first got here, so I like to do the same....(and Snoop dog and K-man and Matt were right there helping me when I was new!)

I don't think I've ever listened to your subs, Erica (I drop in when I can), but maybe I'll start. As a listener, I find it a lot easier to come up with a rank than to articulate what I did and didn't like about a song. Sometimes I feel like, "there's something about this that doesn't work, and I'm not sure what it is." On rarer occasions I've felt like, "This is not good...I can't stand to sit through the whole thing." Neither of these comments would be helpful to the singer, and it would be nice to simply put in a ranking rather than having to say point blank to the singer that their submission sucked.

Once you start getting ranked more, though, prepare for ambiguity. Some people give vastly different ranks from the same general observations. If a submission was good but not great, many people would give it a 9 or 10. I'd probably give it around a 6 or 7. That's the curse of having submissions listened to by me, I guess. Either the ranks or the comments could be helpful, properly used, but based on what I've seen here neither usually are.

When I first got here I ranked some ot the time. I used the system according to the way I understood it, mostly nines and 10's, but sometimes an 8. Then I read a whole bunch of threads about how crappy people felt anything less than a 10 was and I stopped. I find something I like about a song and I say what I liked. If I just can't think of anything I like I will avoid leaving a comment. Sometimes even the nicest critisisms are misconstrued. For example, if someone tole me one of my songs was "pitchy" I wouldn't know what the hell they were talking about. If someone said, " I don't think this is the song for you", I would be offended. If someone said, "You really struggled with that one note on ..., try taking a deep breath..." I would appreciate it. But some people are really thin skinned, and you don't know how they'll react to any kind of critisism, so I usually just find something I like and say so. (ramble, ramble)
I'm not sure if I've listened to any of your posts, my time has been pretty limited, maybe one or two songs a day, but when I do, I'll try to remember that you want to be ranked.
