I don't think I've seen it here yet so pardon if it's been posted and\or talked about. I just received an email for the Selectatrack streaming service. It's in euro at 9.99 Home 49.99 Pro (that means you need to pay the Pro if you run karaoke for pay shows) monthly. Or, the have a 4.99 Home 24.99 Pro (that means you need to pay the Pro if you run karaoke for pay shows) for a 24 hour pass. The samples seem to be along the lines of SBI quality which is usually OK. This looks like a GREAT deal for the home person that wants to host a party every now and then and doesn't want to invest in a lot of music. I could see using this as a filler for stuff I would never want to purchase but others want to sing. I may give it a shot at my next home show. https://www.selectatrack.com/ondemand/ |

I remember testing their Select-a-track player quite a while back. Awesome player for $500.00 for the Pro version. Website looks very nice now. I wonder if the $50/monthly also includes the "Full Version PRO player" software. Correction: cost of Professional £49.99 (British Pound equals 74.14 US Dollar) Although the price is still good for a 20,000 songs Pro sub, Do keep in mind that this is "Streaming" meaning internet will be required to have access to the songs within the software. However there is a Songshop integrated in the player to "Buy and Download" songs. I'm not seeing anywhere that says "OFFLINE" content for the subscription songs. (Still browsing the website though) I downloaded the player, doesn't seem to have changed or have any added features since the last time i've tested it. It is a nice player though. User friendly. |

How does it compare to Karafun? It would seem to me that with the Euro exchange rate, Karafun is the better option for US customers for home use, although perhaps Select-a-track is the better option for professional use (cost-wise). Looking at the screen shots of the player, I like the Karafun player better. |

the free player > I choose Karafun the pro player > Select-a-track is very good Over-all > If I was still using Computer PC software > I would stay with Karafun because: a) Software developers are still adding features. b) Multiplatform for mac and also android aswell c) Users can request features to be added in the karafun user forum In all the months after testing the Select-a-track player, Nothing has changed. By now you have heard I've left the PC/Computer software and now use Hardware based products. HDK Box 2.0 & Pro Venue are on my table for testing. Overall: Select-a-Track was at one time my Choice till they threw that $500.00 Price tag at me. The KaraFun Player will work Flawless once you go through the "Pre-Setup Prep phase" a) Install and use it on an SSD Drive b) Unzip your songs to MP3+G format c) Import them into kjfilemanager >Select all songs > Write Metatags d) Sort all your songs and put each manufacturer to their own folder e) In karafun (windows) Add Folder > for each manufacturer individually f) Wait for each folder to update completely before adding the next folder. (You only have to do this one time only) Now you're all set to run KaraFun at your next party without lag or long break times. |

Looking at the screen shots of the player, I like the Karafun player better. I've tried the karafun offering in the past and didn't really care for it. Some of my guests picked modern country songs and either the sweeps were wrong or the songs were off. I know it's supposed to be the same as Karaoke-Version, but I think there is a difference when it comes to their streaming songs versus the purchased download songs. I think they are more on par with their non-karaoke download options where you can turn song feature (Like guide vocals and background vocals) on and off where you don't have those options with the MP3+G downloads. Selectatrack may be more expensive but it's still under $10 to add their streaming content to a home party and I think that is very reasonable. I'll probably try it next time just to give it a go or two. |

Select-a-track is good. Even the pricing for home and pro subs. One thing to keep in mind though that you will notice is: Select-a-track songs "do not download and play" they Stream from the server on their end. (a good connection will be required) With KaraFun, The requested song will download to your pc in a temp folder from their server and Cache before starting song and once in a while will have "Hiccups" Personally I would stay away from "Streaming and Internet" options just for the purpose of keeping it "Pro" level. |
