So was talking to a guy the other day and we got into Christmas music discussion. It basically boiled down to just because it's played at Christmas time doesn't necessarily mean it's a Christmas song - but more a Winter theme type song like Let It Snow, Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland - as these make no mention of Christmas in any reference, decorating, holy spirits, etc. just talking about snow & sleighing.
What other "Christmas songs" can you think of that would fall into this 'winter' category?

Some added from another forum
"Marshmallow World"
"Baby, It's Cold Outside"
"Sleigh Ride"
"My Favorite Things"
"Frosty The Snowman" - as the original version doesn't associate with Christmas and says i'll be back again some day.

that wasnt really the topic at hand. It was specifically what can be considered a Christmas song vs a song that is just more winter orientered and which songs would fit the latter.

No mention of Christmas in "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch", just a lot of insult hurling.

I know, but some songs like Jingle Bells where written for Thanksgiving stolen for Xmas. It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year implies Xmas. Let It Snow same thing. But lets face it, If you live in the part of the country that gets a lot of snow. By mid Jan. or so enough already!

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the year I would agree is more Christmas oriented and doesn't fit a winter theme only. However Let It Snow makes no mention of holidays, Christmas, holy nights or anything else specifically related to Christmas. Jingle Bells would also fit a non-Christmas type song since as you pointed out is originally written for T-Giving, although it doesn't really even specify anything T-Giving related.

Ever since I watched this staples commercial in the 90's, I forever
associate the song "It's the most wonderful time of the year" with kids going back to school.
