Hey guys,, I cruised through a bunch of the forum topics and thank you for your help.. I don't understand many of the terms but I'm learning as I go here. I wanted some opinions and thoughts from you on what I have so far and what I will need in the immediate future and maybe down the road. Note: I'm only going to use this a handful of times per year in my garage or at other small events) Purchased: 12" Powered Speaker & Stand Mixer 2 mics All cords I'm in about 750$ and not looking to go nuts with anything else.. If I feel the need to add another speaker I can do that but for now this is it. Is there anything I'm missing to get started? Also, (and my biggest struggle right now) I would really like to buy and run all of my songs off my I-pad and I've installed a couple of apps but none of them are all that great. (I did read through the newbie thread but most of that info is way over my head when it comes to software,,etc.) For now I want to keep it as simple as possible but the best app I found is Karaoke Anywhere (13,000 songs) and in my short search there were quite a few classics that were not available for purchase. Again,, Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you. |

12" powered speakers are fine for what you have, (Maybe add a subwoofer to the mix and your all set) as fas as acquiring music, look in to karaoke.net for updating your music library. If you have no music I found the best way to start was with KaraFun offering you free software and all the latest hits under a subscription. You can start that way and just buy songs as you grow. I'm assuming in mentioning you do also have the following: 1) a tv or second display for the CDG lyrics 2) a laptop/deskop/pc or a tablet/iphone or any device to play karaoke songs 3) mic stand 4) Brief knowledge on licensing in your area (if you intend to do this other than at home) Cheers! |

What are the makes/models of the gear? Does the mixer have effects built in?I cruised through a bunch of the forum topics and thank you for your help.. If you need to do an occasional event, they have a pro subscription you can get for a week at a time for those events.

Thanks guys! I set it up last night and it seems to work pretty well.. I can see I do need to get mic stands though for sure. One thing I Noticed right away is that the APP that I was using (and the only one that seemed to work well at all) didn't have any background vocals. It doesn't look like my Apple APP idea is going to work out and I'm going to need to find some sort of software that you guys use and go from there. To answer your previous question I have 1 Proel Flash12A 600 watt speaker and my mixer is a Yamaha (don't know the model type). Speaker was $450 and the mixer was 200$. It looks like this will be a learn as I go kind of thing. If anyone else wants to chime in with any suggestions they are all greatly appreciated! Thank you! |
