Well....I had TWO competitions/auditions today...what a busy day it was
It started off by getting up around 6:00 so that I can do my hair, go to where I work to finish off my audition forms, and then get to the Nashville Star Audition at 9:00 in the morning
Well, talk about a heck of a morning! It went okay until I got to work and plugged in my digital camera to get a photo off of it, only to find that the card was getting messed up by the card reader....so had to use an old photo, which I just cut horribly out of an printout...and used that for the big audition form with many questions they make you fill out.
I finally got that taken care of and got a cab and went to the audition site. There had already been a line up...outside..and you have to remember...it is winter here in Alberta...so it was around -5 degrees CELCIUS in the shade. I got there at 9:00, only to find out that they were not opening the doors till 10:00....so we all got to standoutside and freeze while our voices siezed up!
During that time in the line up...we found out that we only needed the audition form I so hard worked on earlier...if we make it to the 2nd round.
Well, the line started moving..and they made us fill out another form in line. By that time, it was around 10:30, and my fingers were numb. I could hardly feel the tips of them. They got us inside the venue, and we had no time to warm up...it was like rounding up cattle...in you go...out you go type thing. They seemed really in a rush. I barly had time to take off my jacket...could not brush my hair (as you know how judges like to base decisions on looks)..and off I went to a couple of men at a table to be judged.
I sang "independence day" by Martina...and I thought I did a great job (which is all that matters anyway). The judges actually just judged me by my voice..as they closed their eyes and listened intently.
Well, needless to say....they did not like me as I did not get to go on any further...which is okay...cause I was not nervous at all, which is my goal in singing right now.
So I went home....and was still freezing...did not warm up till around 2:00
! (Stupid Canadian Weather!)
My second competition started around 8:00 tonight. The top 3 go on to finals on Wednesday...and the winner of the whole thing gets to sing at the National Final Rodeo in Las Vegas. Pretty good prize!
I sang "Big Deal" by Leanne Rimes, and "broken Wing" I felt I performed great....I was not nervous at all, and there was around 100 people in the bar...all close proximity as it is only really meant to comfortably sit 60 people or so.
Again, needless to say...I did not make it to the top three. I actually think I was probably 4th place....but oh well! The three that made it were very good....one guy was a perfect Garth Brooks
!
However, I am never sad when I lose...It was just not meant to be
When I get the chance to do some editing and stuff, I will post broken wing...live that night. It is a little distorted as we had to sit right next to the speaker..which really sucked
Anywho...for all those that were wondering..that was my long, competition day. It is now 1:20 a.m., and as I got up today at 6:00 a.m., I am quite tired!
Talk to you all tomorrow
HUGS and thanks for your continued support! It truly means alot to me...I can't even tell you
