I have Cool Edit Pro 2.0 on my computer, as well as CDG+MP3 files on my computer. I need some advice buying a microphone, but other than that, I'm lost!

Good start. Now, can you play the karaoke files you have on your PC?

Regarding the microphones and other hardware, that has been discussed ad invinitum on this site. I think you should be more clear on your question in order for us to help you my friend!

Ya know. there really needs to be a site for recording dummies like me.
I have no clue where to start on recording etc. (not my forte I guess)
All the topics here and on other forums cover things but never anything in detail.
I have read and read and only get more and more confused.
One says get this program to RIP (whatever that is) and this cd drive and this recording program and this converter thingy etc. etc. enough to make yer head implode!

So, I will just sit back and listen. :)

Update: OK I tried to get Adobe Audition (no longer cool edit) running on my computer.
It had no sound at all... I tried everything. It actually took all sound OFF my computer completely!
Spent a while researching and looking for solutions.. Finally had to uninstall and do a system recovery.
So much for trying! LOL!

I am not as dumb as I thought! I got it working! :)
Now to get something that won't make me sound like I am singing in a tin can. :)

Post subject:  Subject Moved!

Hey all -

Just a note to advise you that this post was moved... Didn't catch this (or many other topics fo that matter) that deal with Karaoke Equipment or Products.

All Technical Questions should be posted in the Technical Questions Forum.
1) That way everyone can find them and read the answers
- speaking of answers -
2) if all tech questions are posted in one area it will be easier for our outstanding technical advisors members (thanks folks) can answer them by visiting just the one forum.

I appreciate your understanding -

Check out the Wherehouse chain. Many low price mics, (Sony etc) and I hear they are OK for starters. (Pardon the pun) :D
