Post subject:  Need help with system - Please comment
Think I have my system figured out except for some items - Pls. suggest/recommend. Thanks in advance!
Spkrs (Active, Powered) - Mackie SRM350
Mixer - Mackie Onyx 1220
Player1 - JVC RSQ 303 (I heard this won't play karaoke DVDs? Why?)
Player2 - Sony 300 mulitdisk player for karaoke DVDs/VCDs (current collection and exisiting player, will add Player1 for CD+Gs and single play DVDs)
Processor - Still deciding on a vocal processor or a reverb/echo/delay proc. unit (Need your input here on what system to get)
1. Digitech vx400 Vocal Processor
2. Lexicon. T.C. or any other processor in this class (Pls. recommend)
Microphones - Shure Beta58a, SM57s and Shure Vocal Artist Wireless system (existing eqpt. with all necessary mic cables)
Cables - from mixer to speakers, source to mixer

Did I forget anything else??? :?:

Because it is cdg player & not a dvd player.

I would go with a Lexicon MPX110 for the effects.
Mics the Beta series are nice, but you really won't need that good of a mic. The Shure SM58 are a great mic that you can find on almost any stage - pro, semi-pro, amateur, karaoke, even public speaking.

Great mixer.
Good speakers, I take it this will be for home use? These may be a little small for clubbing - unless you get the subs as well. The powered speakers from mixer just need a standard mic cord, just get some long enough to make the run you need. If you are in multiple venues, i'd suggest getting different lengths. The shorter the run is the best, but sometimes this just isn't possible.

Correct, these are for home use. I plan to get subs in case need to use it for a larger space or a party. Do you suggest any other speaker that works better for my needs? SRM450? Why the Lexicon processor? Will use the advice on cables...that can really help me have a clean looking system.

Oh yeah, any advice or input on the RSQ 303 player? Is this favored today over the 505 or the CAVs? I love the VGA port on the back to plug into a monitor, great use for those old PC CRT monitors lying around.

The SRM350 will do nicely for home use, like I said if you do larger venues, they will be a little small & you'd want to add subs for a nice rounded out sound. The 450's are also a great home speaker, however they are a lot bigger as well & some homes are limited to space, but those would work in small to medium clubs nicely.
I like the Lexicon because it sounds great & is easy to use - basically.
Cords and cables are pretty straight forward, like I said between the mixer & speakers will use standard mic cables (as will your mics). The effects processor will use 1/4" - 1/4" cables & the player will use 1/4" - RCA cables. I'm not a real fan of the CAVS machines, but haven't really heard anything too bad about them. The RSQ 505 I have heard good things about, but not so much the 303.

OR are you talking the cavs player for the vga port? It's not on the RSQ model.

I have the JVC303 gold player, and the RSQ505. The latter plays dvds, vcds, etc. Good overall player. Like any multiplayer, though, it takes a few moments to recognize any disc that's not it's default to see first. So be prepared for a few seconds lag. As I use multiple players in my show, I queue them up ahead of time.

I did forget one thing, power conditoner, which one do you recommend? Furman?

Sorry :oops:, I knew a Nino that wasn't a he. I get that every now & then with my name as well.

Furman, Rack Rider are both good for power conditioners. Get whatever is on sale, they are pretty much the same. Some of the higher priced ones have more spike control & better filters, but not really worth the extra expense for a system like the one you are building.
