GF was cleaning her storage area out and found the 120 karaoke cassettes she thought she had lost many years ago. Pocket Songs, Singing Machine, Priddis, etc. She's already given me 10 songs she wants me to create cdg's for. I'm already leaning toward wishing that they had stayed lost! |

I'd personally figure out exactly which songs she wants and see if you can buy just the download with graphics. If they already exist, why spend the time trying to create graphics (unless they are songs never released onto cdg/mp3g). |

If you paid yourself $20 an hour you will loss money. Just download the new stuff! |

Agree with all of the above. You’re probably better off downloading vs.creating cdgs out of those tapes. Better sound quality too & your gf will love you for it. dsm2000 wrote: I'm already leaning toward wishing that they had stayed lost! You just hope your gf doesn’t have access to this site or all bets are off. She might just let you make cdgs instead of downloads. |

You could transfer(copy) them to a DVD like a movie or a TV show. I would think using windows movie maker or better. You would not have the key changer, but you can correct the key for your copy as you make your DVD. |

We're talking some 80's and 90's productions here. Many of these songs were never done on disc or are unavailable now if they were. She recorded a couple of cd's back in the early 90's at a tv studio with some of these. She still has the cd's with her doing lead and backup vocals but no karaoke version of the songs. Judds - In my Dreams (I just uploaded her cd version of this in the showcase) Suzy Bogguss - Yellow River Road These are the first 2 she wanted that I have never found anywhere else. Guess I'll have to pull the old teac dual deck out of the closet. |

Kirks Karaoke wrote: Are they the kind of cassettes with the graphics? Cassettes are not Digital recordings. You can't play them on a Video screen, so, No, they don't have graphics.

I find that the best quality is still the classic V+G files. You know, the Vinyl+Graphics records? Everyone knows that the KJs that actually spun karaoke were the most talented, and V+Gs have the best sound. That's why V+Gs are making a comeback, and all the hipsterest KJs are using them. Of course, your V+G song list is limited to house, dubstep, and emo rock.....but the tactile feel! |

First there were drums. Then there was smoke Then some genius put the two of them together and Karaoke was born! |

And the graphics are probably jagged & jerky, not smooth. Attachment:

Sound Choice made what was called Super K cassettes which played on a super k machine produced graphics on a TV screen that reminded me of early music maestro graphics. |

You've been around long enough to have heard of some of the old and not really good formats. It was something just before CD+G's took hold. Crappy at best, I was at a house party and we got drunk and sang our asses off. The next time I did karaoke it was to a CD+G, much better. |

Karaoke was on VHS too. U-Best had a VHS line out for a short time. I'm sure others did as well, but that one sticks out as they actually had a commercial on TV and someone was explaining how to pronounce karaoke - as careeoke and not the proper way. |
