Oh yes . . . I even offer to set them on fire to get them started. The ones who don't even ask I move to the left side of the stage with the wet carpet and poorly grounded microphone.

For most karaoke singers a cigarette would be the only smoking part of their performance.

I have a Taser on hand if they try. It usually only takes one time though I don't get too many smokers after that.

I have an ashtray near the stage they can put their butt in and feel free to drag during song intermission. I don't prohibit smokes on stage, just try to discourage it.

I work in a smoking bar. We don't have an actual stage, more of like a defined area of carpet that is squared off as the stage/dance floor. So there really isn't any reason for me to not allow smoking while the singers karaoke. I too keep an ashtray on my table, and most smokers either put their cig out before they start their song, or just take a drag during instrumental breaks. I'm cool with that.

Wow. I am so used to the NY smoking laws, this subject struck me as a joke at first.
I tell ya, I do NOT miss my equipment (or ME) coming home at the end of the night reeking like an ashtray. I used to have to shower before going to bed. I feel for you guys.

If you breathe smoke into a microphone it will be amplified and even more smoke will come out of the speakers.

I wait until after I've finished singing before huffing a tab. Or the KJ waits until I've sparked a tab before calling me inside to sing. More often the latter.

If people breath smoke directly into the mike, I turn them up in the monitors so it blows back at them.

Wet spot on stage & poorly grounded mic for the smokers gives you smoke, sparks, & flame. or wipe your butt with the head of the mic and then hand it to them saying "This is what the mic smells like to everyone else after you blow your smoke into it"

no smoking in public places here so no it never comes up. now if you have smoking coming out of your speakers, I would say that you have bigger issues to deal with than whether or not a person is smoking..
