so i am sure this has been discussed before, but i'll be darned if i can find it.

So aside from 8125 which discs would you say were the hardest for you to find/get?

I may have found a source for several discs, but we will see how many of them i can actually afford.

So for almost 8 years i had been looking for 8516 then two show up in the span of a month, unfortunately with the shipping to Canada, i couldn't afford them.

Still haven't found a copy of 8338

You will probably never find the Sound Choice Milestone disc. It was a limited edition given out free from SC to kj's that sent in proof of being active kj's - usually a business card sufficed. I just got lucky enough that someone actually GAVE me an unopened copy a couple months ago which I am still thankful for.
Love Will Keep Us Alive - Eagles
You Send Me - Sam Cooke
Vision Of Love - Mariah Carey
Bad Boy - Miami Sound Machine
Dreamlover - Mariah Carey
Wonderful World - Sam Cooke
Sound Of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel
Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel
Under My Thumb - Rolling Stones
Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
1-2-3 - Miami Sound Machine
I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen
Doctor My Eyes - Jackson Browne
Running On Empty - Jackson Browne
Let's Spend The Night Together - Rolling Stones

Spotlight 8148, 8195, 8199 are pretty hard to find as well - mostly Seattle grunge & 90's alternative.
There was also a small set of 8 discs that SC made specifically for a national contest they were sponsoring in the early-mid 90's in which SC tracks had to be utilized by the kj's in order to be in the contest. At the time the set contained many songs not out within the Spotlight line. I cannot remember what the set was called though.

It's a good disc too, I get several songs sung from it.

i think it was just called national singing contest.

The only reason i have soundchoice's version of gary lewis and the playboys "count me in|", which was on that disc, is because i got it on custom disc before clark went out of business.

I would have to agree 8800 was one of the hardest disc's I ever found. And also paid a lot for a disc called sand in your shoes and Contemporary.

thanks for all the input.

Except for the mileston disce, the retired KJ i am talking to claims to have bought every soundchoice disc that was ever produced.

It certainly is possible, he had been hosting since the early 90's. I am going over to his place on the weekend.

He has agreed to sell me everything I have been looking for, including the suggestions here. 10 discs in total for $250.

If he lets me take pictures, i will post them.. :)

Still haven't found 8800 for myself. Also 8230, 8310, & 8603 are hard to come by!! If he has either of these and you are able to get them I will gladly buy them from you.

I paid almost $1000.00 for 10 rare disc on ebay. Sounds like a good deal. I would jump all over that.

Almost every one of their discs are now considered to be rare (just some more rarer than others). $100 per disc??????? a 350% mark-up... NOT worth it!!!... ESPECIALLY when most of the songs can be obtained from other vendors. I don't think I'd be jumping all over that. Sorry, but enjoy your new discs.

*sigh* So i went to my host's place and he showed it to me. 90% of it was dj music and unfortunately if he had any soundchoice originals, they were either all unplayable or he sold them already because almost 100% of the discs he had were burned cdrs.

I did manage to pick up a really sturdy case, with about 150 originals *not soundchoice tho* for $250 *case would retail for $500 brand new* so not a total waste of time, but still extremely disappointing.

Well I guess my search for a set of foundations and bricks that i can afford continues..

One of the first karaoke hosts in my area is hanging up his KJ hat. It is very good news for me because he is selling me his discs, including a bunch of SC at a very reasonable price. I'm sure I will have more dupes (again) and I will let you know what I have. Currently I have around 1500 dupes including about 150 SC and this new deal will boost the total by at least 100 more dupes. I don't know if any of them would fit in the rare category....... I'll keep my fingers crossed.

thanks. I appreciate it. Right now I'm a little discouraged by the whole process after such a huge disappointment, but if you come across the following discs that you have duplicates for I could prolly manage to scrape up some cash from somewhere.

2267, 8199, 8334,8338,8516

Mostly what I am interested in is a set of brick and foundations. I don't mind even paying retail for a set, the problem has always been, i can't afford to pay for a foundations set up front, and by the time I had the cash for the bricks, they weren't selling them anymore *lol*

How many of the songs from these more 'rare' discs are available via download from Stingray?

quite a few actually. I haven't bothered to count, but I have bought a couple that I really really wanted.

If the song isn't available on the website as a full karaoke download, there is more of the catalog that is available thru itunes.

Are these Stingray downloads legal for commercial settings or just home entertainment?

My understanding is that they are home use only.

yes, the TOS states that they are for home use only, but then so are cds. In my non professional opinion, i don't think anyone would go after you if you took them to another hosts's show to sing from a mp3+g disc or usb stick.

i personally would even feel comfortable using them in a show, but that's just me, your milage may vary.
