Hi Everyone!! Last night my JVC 303 (approximately 3 months old)... started to skip and actually stopped playing in the middle of a song. I switched trays and managed to get through the night with only a couple skips....but talk about a stressful night. Figures it would happen during our first annual scaryoke party. Has anyone else experienced this? We plan on cleaning all of our discs and also clean the lens...hoping it will work, but feel a backup is obviously neccessary. I was hoping the player would be a little better made. I wish I had purchased 2 (single tray) players instead. I Wondered if anyone could recommend something better...more durable. Next show is Saturday and I just don't trust the other one. |

I don't run a show without 2 players for that purpose, plus you can run both players at the show. 1 for current play, 1 for next song cued. It sounds like your discs "could" be dirty, but more than likely is your player - either out of alignment or dirty lens. In either case you should have it professionally done. I would've bought the 2 single trays as well. When you get multiple tray players, as great & convenient as they are, there are more parts that can get jammed or break & wear out. Besides there is no difference in 1 trip tray over 2 single trays, you still have to manually open the tray & load the disc - plus the added benefit of a back-up player already there! |

I've had not one but two of the Jvc triple players... one for over three or four years! I love it, and never had a problem with it. I loved it so much I bought a second one!  !
I also have a RSQ505 player (mostly to play my dvds, but I've since phased them out of my normal gig). So now it's a backup to my existing 303 player! |

I also have both a jvc and an rsq. Have had no problems to date, but my Brother had a problem with one of his once...Good to have 2 extra drawers tho, I think...hopefully everything won't die at once...But a great idea to have 2 players or some very good friends you can call... ..
Many folks here put lil stickers on their disks with initials and disk numbers. I heard from a local kj that they can mess up your players...don't know if it's truth or bull... My first karaoke machine was a 50.00 used special from a pawn shop ( many years ago)...It quit working on me and I used a lens cleaning disk and it's fine now...I use it at the beauty shop for fun casual use... Past lens cleaning tho I would definatly go to a professional... I clean each disk with alcohol before I play em...Keeps em clean...Also beware of "other peoples disks" which are not always in the best shape. For sure I would clean them before play.. |

I carried around 2 triple trays for along time , now I use a little baby RJ tech all in one player for emergencys. It even plays my xbox games so I can get my ESPN football game on while the singers do thier thing..... |

Stickers on the discs won't hurt the performance provided they are securely fastened on. Many kj's put stickers on their discs for identification purposes. |

One suggestion, is to keep it away from the amps. I have been told that the 303 is heat sensitive and if it gets to hot, it will do as you are saying. |

My 303 players had those issues as well as sometimes they would not eject the discs from one of the trays. I bought a Vocopro 808 dual tray. It plays cd+g, cd, dvd, mp3. I caught my hand on a tray and dislodged it. I was able to pull the try out the rest of the way set it back in and close the tray. This Player is very durable and I have had no problems with it. It has been a great addition to my equipment. |

Love my 333 and want to keep her in good condition. Would a cd cleaner be advisable or not. |

Hey Darkmessenger5, That happened to a plextor drawer in my puter....  Do you think that would work on it? Though I pushed it shut and doubt I can get it open now...Are these repairable or will I have to buy another plextor drive? Does anyone know? I had 3 but this one is in a puter with 2 of them so hate to not be able to use it...

You may have to buy a new plextor. They do not make the cd trays on those very sturdy. At this point it cannot hurt to try seeing that it would cost more to have someone fix it then to just replace it. Good Luck |

I have a triple-tray JVC also, and I LOVE it!! So far, it's been good. Also keep an extra single-tray JVD as a backup. I like the triple-tray, as it allows me to get the next disc out and have it sitting in the open tray ready to go...It kind of reminds me who's singing next, and this way my eyes don't have to keep going back and forth from the list to the tray. As for the little stickies on the discs, I have that on a couple of my black discs that don't take the black-colored sharpie marker...Don't have any problems with sticking. Is your JVC mounted in a rack? The person mounting the player has to watch where the holes are drilled, because I know another KJ who had one mounted by the store where he bought it, and he had troubles with it skipping. I would NEVER use a cd cleaner! go to a shop that services them and ask for normal cleaning supplies... and in cases of a pro player, I'd have it serviced at LEAST once a year by a pro! |

Knightshow, Thanks for the reply, I do intend to have pa pro service the unit once a year but was curious about during the year. Our system is always setup at the bar we work for and was curious if there was something we could use to help keep it clean. By the time the player should be seviced I should have a backup player to put into the system. I do run with two players all the time. And my backup at the house that is just that a backup (as lonman said "voco...... oh never mind"), but I needed something to practice at home with. |

depends on what you mean practice with. I have a computer I play all my karaoke stuff with. rip to hard drive. I also have a cheapo player (around $40) that plays karaoke cdgs. I also have a backup karaoke 303 player that belongs in my second system... not being used now. but for cleaning the regular player, follow the six months to a year rule! By a pro! The last thing you need to do is scratch that laser head! |

Thanks Knightshow, I will find the local pro for cleaning. Scratching the lense is something I do not want. That home player (backup) is a Vocopro DKP-10G. We bought it so we could practace at home becuse our system is at the bar. |
