Post subject:  DIRTY word mentioned within... looking for recommendations

I'm going to mention a dirty word here and I hope you don't yell at me too much in the proess.

I recently saw a Vocopro (shudder) CDG-8000 which looks a lot like the Pioneer model that's similar.

I'm looking at DJ equipment that can be used for beat matching, changing tempo, etc and was looking at something like this instead of the Technics SL-DZ1200 Digital turntables (which I want but can't afford for a while).

The question is will this hold up to the rigors of playing for 12-18 hours a week or more? or would I need 3 or more to cover the show (one in the shop, one back up, and one in use)?

If you have any other recommendations besides PCDJ and the Nutech mixer I'd appreciate the input (I am considering PCDJ as an alternative but I'm looking for something less automated at this point).

FYI - I know the general concensus on VocoPro equipment but I also know the UHF mics seem to be an excellent value (per a previous thread) for most people.

To be totaly honest with you, you dont want a CDG-8000. I had one, and it lasted a year. untill the warranty expired. First one head went out then the other in about 2 weeks. sometimes the thing would heat up, and wouldnt display graphics. and it didnt do a real good job of it either. scratches played heck on it where my jvc has no problems with them.

IMHO

BPM Studio is a much better program than the pcdj program. I use that one, and it does beatmatching, and recording.

That answered my question - VocoPro is right out (apologies to Monty Python). I'll look at the rack mount Pioneer possibly, but will likely just wait until I can pick up the Technics... at $800+ each they're pricey though.

You do know that NuMark has a rackable dual cdg player set-up like a dj cd player? CDN-25+G $300.
Don't know the quality of NuMark products as they are more geared to dj's, but it might be something to check out as well.

Check out Denon's dual CD players too - very reliable and not quite as pricey as Pioneer (last time I checked). I have an American Audio (aka American DJ) that I'm pretty pleased with as well.
