I'll start it off: I'd love to do a one night only of "Easy Listening" Karaoke. No R&B. No Rock. No Rap. No Pop. Just 70s and 80s easy listening. (Nothing against the other genres at all. I'm just saying, it'd be nice for only 1 night.) The best I had so far was like an hour of it with a rotation of 3 singers going hard. But then others came in and messed up the vibe that night by doing other genres. And in-between the karaoke singers, I was playing easy listening, so it was a nice hour. I wanna do it again with more folks involved. |

karaoke fantasy #4080 I'd love to have all of my best singers in one building for one night only of karaoke doing their signature songs A lot of them don't even know each other; they'd be meeting for the first time maybe for my birthday, one of these days |

Product 19 wrote: karaoke fantasy #4080 We get a lot of really good singers so many nights turn out just like this. Although on the flip side, I've had occasional nights where NONE of my good singers came in and had all but my bad to mediocore singers in by fluke!

My marina brings in live bands and other type acts like Tom Mabe (the comedian). They do not pay, but they usually provide the acts a houseboat and other amenities in return for performing. We've had some of the management over to our lake house and they are wanting me to put on a show once or more during the summer. I don't want to do an open karaoke thing. My idea is to bring some of my friends who are great performers in and do a variety night. My niece is an exceptional singer but she is young (15) and usually does slower songs. I have a few other friends who either have been leads for bands or should have been. The idea is to script everyone's best songs and each performer will do two or three songs each, with maybe some duets thrown in to transition between performers. I am thinking of bringing in someone strictly for sound\lights and the show would have an intermission with a few line dance numbers. I could space the singers so some of it would be some country, some pop, some rock, some lake\water type stuff so it wouldn't get heavy in one area. The marina would provide a house boat for my guests to stay on and a pontoon boat so everyone can play Saturday and Sunday along with free meals for the crew. This is something slightly past fantasy but it's early in the conception and I've wanted to do a show there for a while now so it has been a "fantasy". I may start another thread to get some feedback on this idea. |

I actually dream of my karaoke fantasy. “I set aside a little portion of my lottery winnings to celebrate my birthday. The place was a little vague but it’s really a fancy place. Food & spirits catered by the renowned Wolfgang Puck of Spago. I gathered 15 of the very best singers from all my past venues to sing 3 songs each. All my regulars were invited, karaoke opened for them after dinner. My almost perfect dream fantasy marred by an unreliable wi-fi internet connection from the venue. Although the kj’s sound system was great, the music subscribed to an online karaoke site called Karafun on the fly! Needless to say the dream turned into a nightmare!” (Sweet dreams are made of this, who am I to disagree – Eurythmics) |

i would love to be doing a karaoke show where just once, every single person I invite to come out, actually decides to show up! Plus, i would love to do a family karaoke at a restaurant or other similar venue. I have pitched the idea to several places over the last few years, but so far no one has been even remotely interested. Real shame too.. Because i maybe know about 20 people whom are karaoke aquaintences, but there are 300 people from my church whom I could invite out to a family style karaoke night. I've also never hosted a night that was standing room only -James |

Anything over 20 singers is starting to puch peoples patience. I have had 50-60 person rotations in the past with SRO crowds, that's about 1 song in an entire evening if they are lucky.

My rotation was 43 with several parties and lots on non-singing support folks. It was literally standing room only and I ended the night with only a 1/2 dozen folks that were able to sing more than 1 song. Don't get me wrong though. It was a bad (@$%!) night, everyone had a great time, and the only "complaints" I received were from a handful of folks who came in at 1am expecting to get moved up in the list ahead of people that had been waiting for over 1.5 hours to sing. They were drunk and there is no way to reason with them other than to make light of the situation. That said..... My greatest karaoke fantasy is to go a full year without hearing the following songs..... Don't Stop Believing Total Eclipse of the Heart |

My fantasy is really quite simple... to be able to walk away from karaoke, with a smile on my face, and not look back and second guess why I am walking away. |

for a random karaoke night during women's history month (in march), in the future, i'd like to only play female artists in-between singers all night long gonna be an interesting challenge and i wanna do it justice on my first time a different female artist all night long as a salute i'll have to do some research which is why i haven't done it yet. meaning, i also wanna include female artists that women dig--not just female artists that men only dig. you know what i mean? there are some indie female artists out there that chicks love that dudes like me have no idea about. and i'll try to hit different musical genres and still keep things fun. might have to do a playlist for this one! |

Mine? For Daryl Hall to stop in and sing a song or two. He lives about 10 minutes away. The ultimate wet dream would be for me to sing harmony with him. Still waiting.... |

I'd love to have an artist come and sing their song at my show. Just for kicks, I invited Ben Folds once when he was playing a solo show down the street, but he sadly did not bite; I tried the same thing with Andrew W.K. (thinking that a live performance of "Party Hard" would be a nice energizer) but no go. I do, however, have a show that is attended weekly by the family of a very famous actor. I've sung duets with a few of them, and the youngest has always vowed that I'm going to DJ her wedding. So I may have my celebrity karaoke encounter yet. |
