Can anyone "show" me the correct typed format to import songs into sax & doty? I've tried just about every combination except the right one. Thanks |

You can choose any format that you like on the import page and then name your files accordingly or pick the option that matches the way your files are currently named. If you have your files completely screwed up; you can pick the "All in One" option. If you have some files named in one format and some named in a different format; you can import them separately by picking the right format before importing them. I use the first option on the import page which is: DISK-TRACK - ARTIST - TRACK ASK1401A-01 - Owen, Jake - After The Music Stopped THE LOCATIONS OF THE HYPHENS AND SPACES ARE VERY IMPORTANT |

Walt, I own S&D Presenter and I never have used it, and I tried to load my songs into S&D. Using the format that is most common D-A-T (all of mine are in that convention) Disc, Artist, Title, I imported my songs. Ninety-eight percent imported perfectly, the other 2% had the entire file name clumped in one field. The cause was missing track number data. To fix the problem I added a "dash 00" (dash zero zero) to the disc ID and reimported. You can also move those files with some missing file name data to another folder or folders, and then import the bulk of your songs using whatever convention best describes your format. Remember that every dash defines a field of data. Using Bruce's example: Disk-Track Number - Artist - Title (3 dashes) Disc dash Track Number space dash space Artist space dash space Title ASK1401A-01 - Owen, Jake - After The Music Stopped (3 dashes) Using this three dash format fills all four columns OR Disk - Artist - Title (2 dashes) Disc space dash space Artist space dash space Title ASK1401A - Owen, Jake - After The Music Stopped (2 dashes) Using 2 dash format will leave the track number field empty. Lastly S&D allows you to define the naming convention anyway that you want to have your songs named. Remember the spaces need be consistent as well. When discs have more than 1 dash in the disc ID then those will have the data missing between the 1st dash and the dash before the track number such as: CBE4-24-03 Will show up in S&D as CBE4 in disc field and track 3 in the track number field. The 24 will be missing Please give us an exact example of your file names. |

Thanks for the info. It help greatly. Now can you tell me....the songs that I have imported need to be corrected in the search screen. I thought I could go into the import screen and make typed changes to names or song titles. Is this the right place to be able to make those changes? Thanks |

Thanks My first hosting prog was also Sax&Dott older version before show presenter. You need to go to your hardrive (c:) or external drive & open the folder where your songs are located. You can make changes/corrections from there as per mrmarog's format recommendation: Disk - Artist - Title (2 dashes) Disc space dash space Artist space dash space Title ASK1401A - Owen, Jake - After The Music Stopped (2 dashes) |
