I use Karaoke Builder Studio a lot and, despite what for me was a steep learning curve, have come to love it. But there’s one feature I would like to see. The overwhelming majority of songs have at least one chorus (or if you prefer it, refrain). And usually this chorus is identical each time it is repeated (think American Pie). So I find it frustrating to have to fine tune the timing and length of each word in every appearance of that chorus. What I hanker for is the ability to Copy and Paste a bunch of lines (in essence, a pageful) from one place to another within the song, keeping the same timing and note lengths. If this were available in KBS, It would be like creating a rubber stamp to whack out a copy of a chorus where and when it was needed. And do it quickly and accurately. I tried to achieve this using the Copy function but that permits copying only one line at a time. Then each line must be positioned relative to its neighbours within the group of lines that form the chorus. Once this is done, each line of text must be recreated (with the TEXT function) and placed accordingly. All very fiddly and time consuming as anyone who has tried it will know. Could it be I’m missing something and this is easier than I think. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? |

I feel your pain. That would be an excellent addition to the software. The only thing that might work is grabbing an entire page of lyrics, or multiple pages, and slide them up to the original chorus where you have already adjusted everything. While everything is side by side; you could make your edits based on the visual rather than using the audio track. Once both sets of lyrics look the same you can drag the second set of lyrics back down to where they belong and you should only have to get the first word where it belongs. It would be worth a shot. |

I like the sound of that, BruceFan4Life. Certainly an improvement on what I have been doing. |

I would be happy if there was just an Undo button! |

That's another great idea. Don't suppose anyone from Karaoke Builder is listening, though. I emailed them once with a suggested tweak and got no response. |

most important button in the program is the save button. You never know when it might crash on you.Never thought that an undo button would be needed but to each his own. |

Never yet had it crash on me, maybe that's just luck. But I often make mistakes I wish I could correct with undo. Copy/paste is a good idea too. |

I don't know what others do, but I always do the first Sync to the original song, I mean the one with the original artist's vocals intact. Then I switch in the karaoked mp3 and hope the timing will be the same. But it almost never is, even after I've spent a good half-hour matching the tempos in Audacity. Usually it's during or after an instrumental break where the band seem to let the timing drift (why don't they use the original record as a click track? But that's another question for another day, perhaps). So I often find that I've got everything hunky-dory up to the instrumental. If that instrumental is too long (say), I want to shift everything after it forward in time so as to get it back in sync. While wishing I had another feature from Word that let's me 'click start-hold down shift-click end' then grab and slide the chunk of selected text to where I want it, I have to use Ctrl-shift and select each and every remaining line of text. Sometimes the timing will drift off again and I de-select each chunk of text once it's timing is right then move on in that way to the end. Here's another thing that bugs me; there doesn't appear to be a forum anywhere (least of all on KB's website) where you discuss all this stuff and seek help. Why not? Or have I just not managed to find it? Or is this, where we are now, it? |

I remember I was doing one of those 9 minute long songs and hadn't hit the save button yet, I was almost done editing the song when the program suddenly crashed on me. I had to start all over again. Literally hours were wasted. I hit the reset and save buttons constantly now. |

I usually get the backing track from Karaoke-version, the custom track, download it with all parts, create the CDG file using this, then download the track again without the lead vocal. That eliminates this problem because the timings will still be identical. |

I like to make tracks with only the acoustic instruments as an alternative version...with and without the background vocals. |

I've yet to try that Bruce, but that gives me an idea! |
