This has most likely been suggested before. If it has been, I apologize in advance. I'd like to see a search function, whereby one could do a search, by location. That way, people could easily and quickly locate other members who live near them. Just a thought. Except, lets exclude Kass from the search results, ok? Don't want all these other guys finding her! !! I try to be good. I really do! Steve |

Steve... I realize you have sense of humor.. but I don't even consider the last option I the poll even a funny one .. Actually I consider it a direct attack on Kass.. now I really am not choosing sides here.. but I'm actually pointing out a fact of bad judgement on your part.. If I were you... I would really think twice next time. As this does tend to start flame wars on this board and Phill's blood pressure does tend to get slightly elevated about such events.... Just some "Friendly Advice". BTW - I did not vote... Would you like to see such a search function? Yes 0% Votes 0 No 0% Votes 0 Yes, but excluding Kass from the search results 100% Votes 1 |

Hey Beach, I'd like to recommend a good remedial reading class, one with special emphasis on basic, reading comprehension skills and possibly even a good psychiatrist. How in the world, could ANYONE, that actually read what I wrote, take that as an attack upon Kass??? It boggles the mind! |

Steve, I agree with you 100%. It was very funny, even though I want to know where she is. This was not a personal attack or any means of flaming What happened here was poking good, clean innocent fun at a dear friend! Kass, let me know where you are, I can be the prince saving you from the Evil Steven! |

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but in the the member list you can sort by location. It's kind of a long process though and if you're looking for someone in a certain state - say West Virginia - you'll have to look under WV also. I must say I'm a little offended here myself....why wasn't I excluded from the poll like Kass?!!! |

Hello Miss Milo! I wasn't even aware that you could sort the database like that. I guess I should pay more attention. However, unless I'm still doing something wrong, It still doesn't give me exactly what I was thinking of. For instance, when I sorted it by "location" these three appear back to back. Waller, Texas Waltham, MA Warren, Michigan I couldn't find a way to sort by an individual state or city. I was thinking more along the lines of a search box, where one would type in a state or city name and the database would return a list of matching records for that particular city or state. Steve |

I think someone needs a morning chill pill! I think it would be a good idea! Then, when people like Crystal (how freaky are we) arrive, I can find them in my area It is nice to know that there are people from my City here! And, if you don't want to be found, you always have the option of just filling in the spaces (As I know some people just like their privacy) |

Some of us more remote members would love to find anyone in the state let alone in the same city! If possible, a check mark to select making your location searchable would be nice and solve the potential 'security' considerations many people have (or using it to fill in automatically - 'undisclosed' or similar). Providing a pick list for the country/state/province would be nice but probably a programming nightmare. BTW, a big shout out to Heather... the other crazy person in Alaska! |

I really like this idea, but there would have to be standardised answers to the "location" question in order for it to work... For example, some while back I had a look through the Singers' forum database to see how many members were in the UK. I sorted the database by location, and there hit the problem... some had put UK, some had put England, some had just put the county in England in which they live. So yes, a search would be great, but people would have to be more uniform about inputting their location to make it work properly, which would probably cause Phil even MORE headaches than he already has...... |

karaokemeister is right, of course. It should always be optional, whether or not you are included in the search results. That could be as simple as omitting your location information from your profile. Atomic is also correct. It absolutely has to be standardized for the search function to properly sort the database. That would have been much easier if it had been set up like that to begin with. the country and state part would have been as simple as drop down boxes with the countries and states already inserted as selectable options. The only part that would require the member's input would be the city field. Yes, with almost 2,300 member records already stored in the database, it would be a bit of a job at this point but still feasible. Steve |

Be aware... All anyone need is your DIRECT E-mail addy and a certain Software (Undisclosed for security reasons...) and even I can pinpoint your location IP Addy & Ect... if you are online....Even Ghosting... Even your Yahoo addy gives you away if you are online.. Chew on that one... |

You know Steven, with you being in the Portland, OR area, and familiar with Gresham in general, maybe we could hook up for a Karaoke Scene GT here... And with IRMichael who's also a Portlander (in my town of Gresham no less! I don't think he's been to one of my shows, but you never know! !)... Too many of us in one area for us NOT to meet sometime! |
