Post subject:  Users with an agenda…beware

I’m a noob on this forum (and must say seems great so far really helpful), but not a noob to the world of forums which is probably why I picked up on this, however it’s so blatant I’m surprised none of the regular users have picked up on it already. Or if they have they haven't said anything

After browsing the forums for the last couple of hours tryin to pick up some tips for my impending first ever proper show at the weekend, I noticed a few posts from various users that seemed to be unusually biased towards certain products/companies - so much so it’s obvious to me they are working for the company. I know employees or small business owners posting made up reviews anonymously on forums is nothing new, but certain users i’ve seen on here go so far as to talk smack about their competitors…….that’s a new low to me.

I won’t name and shame them because that will ruin the fun, it will be interesting to see if anyone else can make them out..

None of these folks hide who they are or what they do....

Harrington is an attorney working on behalf of Sound Choice.
Bastiat is the CEO of Stellar records (Pop Hits Monthly).
Gretchen is with Digitrax/Karaoke Cloud (formerly with Chartbuster)
Ryan Burger is with MobileBeat.
I am sure there are others, but these are the folks that are most active or have been recently active.

And for the record, I run my own karaoke hosting business. I don't work for anyone but me these days (though my wife will argue she gets to tell me what to do now and then).

What you are seeing is some rather passionate people with very strong opinions who adamantly defend certain positions and even companies.

Kind of a strong accusation for one that's only joined 5 days ago & posted 12 times.
Like stated there are users that in fact work for companies and surely will promote their own stuff. That's normal. That being said I do believe there is ONE user for sure that works for a particular software company but plays it off as just a 'user in the know' because he sure seems to have all answers and arguements that resembles the actual owners beliefs as well.
But majority of the users are just regular users with firm personal preferences - either brand loyalty, beliefs or by simple experience.

They joke that I work at Lexicon, no. Just feel it's a great product and well worth the money over some of the higher priced units that may get a slightly cleaner sound. I got fired from Behringer because they just plain suck  Just kidding, I would NEVER have ever worked at Behringer lol

Well, it’s outing mode time, eh? I’d like to out myself as member of karaosoft (karma) board of directors. Likewise, I am outing Alan B, compuhost’s customer relations rep & member of their advisory board (kidding, alan). :oh yeah: LMAO

it's probably the same user then lonman, as tbh there was only one real offender i noticed as well, just happened to stumble accross their post history and spotted the obvious pattern of promotional posts. As you say, they did also seem to be well "in the know", but isn;t everyone on forums

Not everyone. Yes, some are really "in the know", but a handful of us, we just pretend LMAO (posted in jest).

If you can't find several good answers to your problem/question then no one has probably experienced what you are asking. Which would be quite rare considering the number of active posters. Sometimes people get a little testy because the question has been asked so many times before, but most of the time they try to point you to the threads pertaining to your question.
