Post subject:  Hunting the Elusive Track...

I know most people are running digital shows, so I'll offer this question up to the old school KJ's and disc collectors:

What was the most difficult song track you hunted for your collection?

My most recent quest was for "One More Minute" by Weird Al Yankovic. The only single disc it was licensed on was SC2267, which went OOP in 2001 (According to Sound Choice). I found it recently from a mom & pop 'raoke shop in Texas, but it took about a year to find.

I just wish somebody would do a "Hedwig & The Angry Inch" 'raoke disc, but I think that's too far on the fringe for any company to make money.

Hedwig is available through Karaoke Version.

Where & Who? I am looking for a burn - no downloads as I am old school.

I talked to Mitchell & Trask and they hadn't authorized a karaoke version, although they weren't opposed to it.

Seven Hedwig tracks here -

But they are downloads. But you can also burn them to disc.

Being disc based, an oldie:

The Night Has A Thousand Eyes - Bobby Vee

I've only seen it (and have it) on original mfr. disc from
Sunfly on SF064.

I'm sure it's somewhere on download by now, though...

I have had that one on Pioneer laserdisc since 93, though I haven't heard anyone sing it since maybe 94.
Zoom, Sunfly, SBI (could get a custom disc although chances are it's the same as Sunfly), Essential Karaoke, Original Footage and Sound Choice all put it out as well.

I believe SC8429 has The Night Has A Thousand Eyes as well

"What Christmas Means to Me" by Stevie Wonder has been a bear. Nobody ever made it. BUT it was JUST released on KV after years of searching!

Also "Amoreena" by Elton John, although that may be coming now as a custom soon!

Stevie Wonder's "What Christmas Means To Me". Wow, can't believe it's finally out; one of my regulars will be very happy. Every December, four successive years he’s been requesting for this song. I think I’ll surprise him this week, play it when he comes up on stage. Thanks, Bazza!

Here is the software from a couple of the better ones that work with most cd/dvd drives.

http://www.mtu.com/basics/karaoke.htm
http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod_powercdgburner.php

Both have demos you can try out with your cd/dvd burner in your computer to make sure it's going to be compatible before you buy.
You download your mp3g files & add them into the program, load a blank cd & click start (or whatever the programs go command is). Now you have a working cdg to play in you cdg player.

Um, sorry guys, I guess I should have been more clear. The OP asked what track was the most difficult for me to find, and that was it at the time I was looking for it.

It was only available on LaserDisc ( fom which I had converted to CD+Gs by that time) and the Sunfly disc that I mentioned. It had not yet been made available by anyone else.

Still looking for a trooper disc by karaokemaker. 8 years and still counting. Someone here pointed me to a site, and I tried to order it, but it never came. Had to file a claim with paypal.

the most recent track is Joey by concrete blondes. Finally found a site that was selling the capitol karaoke version, which SUCKED you know what. *actually it wasn't that bad until it got to the guitar solo which sounded like it was played on a $6 children's piano*

soundchoice custom site was shut down, so couldn't get it there. I thought the custom burn website might have it, but it is blocked from US AND canada.

so what did I end up doing.. I signed up for a VPN service that allows me to change my ip address and fool it into thinking I'm either in the US or the UK.

Bottom line is the custom burn site has most, if not all of soundchoice's tracks re-labled as The karaoke Channel of course.

good thing I'm not a host anymore or someone might report me for breaking the law :P

If you can find the SC version, it's a decent version. I've had it for years and no one has ever complained that has sang it.

The prices for purchase are between $40 to $90 and, if I'm not going back into the business (which I'm not), I don't think I can justify the buy.
I had a legit guy in England who did a couple customs for $15 a disc (approx $1 per track), but he became flighty after the first order.
I guess the tech has passed me by...

I don't know, if it's songs that you really want and they are only available as downloads, might be worth the $40. Even for a home user. Better than wishing and waiting for them to never (more than likely) appear on a cdg.

Or, at least wait till they have the complete catalog.
