I got so much new stuff this year I had to start printing last week. Looking at my last print job, it's only been 7 months, but I get my printing for free so twice a year isn't too bad. Replace binders as needed if one goes bad.

Mine’s due in March (every 6 mos). 2½ pages of new releases added already. Songs listed alphabetically, by next printing these new songs will also be included in the artist’s portion. I use my rewards card from office depot plus their 20% promo discount.

I have a newly released section I update every time I add something new, not just a new page thrown in (always hated this from companies that did this), but actually reprint the new section so it's also alphabetical, but the newest additions are always marked.

I was up to 13 pages in the new release section - over 1000 new songs alone, which included monthly releases but mostly singer requests. Had fun buying many one off requests & a couple of close out disc lots I picked up.

I just finished printing my books and got the last book together this afternoon. It's been about 7 or 8 months since my last reprint. Added 12 new pages double column double sided print. Completely up to date unless someone request something new at tonight's show...

I swapped discs with audioprola (John) and was just about to print my books, but now I have several hundred to rip and name. My goal is to be printed by 12/19/13. I am going to try printing them myself (duplex printer) and have them comb bound for $7 a book.

Since September, my new section has grown to 5 pages, all one offs. All singers' requests. Now I am in the process of incorporating them into the rest of the book, and when that is done I will start a NEW New Stuff section. I am also making a new section for just duets. that was a request from one of my customers. Why not? I type and print up my own books, so the cost isn't that bad.

I will be printing only 2 master books for 2014 (one by artist and one by song) since I have made the jump to an online songbook service (Songbookdb). There are still a few that want to look through the books but anymore, most my books end up siting on tables covered in beer (or other liquid). I started the transition this year and the response I have gotten from my singers has been most positive (yes, I know some don't or will never have a smart phone). My regulars will still just come up and pick a song from their singer history (I use and my singers like the "singer history" feature in Compuhost).
If after just printing just the 2 books I find that the singers need more books to look through then I will print additional books. But for now, I will just save the money and move forward into the electronic future.
(I will always just keep my old outdated books around just for them to leaf through and then have them come up and ask me for a song that they can't find in the book)

I typed my entire book out manually, using Microsoft Excel. Besides having it broken up by Artists and Titles, I also have a Special section that is broken down by Holiday Songs, TV Theme Songs, Irish Songs, Spanish Songs (since I only have about 15 discs worth of that), Duets, and Show/Movie Songs.

I do the same as Smooth and Cue--usually once I've typed it in myself I'll remember if I have it if someone asks. Plus I can standardize and categorize as I go. I also categorize like Cue with the addition of a Kid Safe Songs column. I think I also have P for patriotic, G for religious and S for Special (like weddings or ethnic holidays).
People have asked me for a duets list but I'm having problems with it because of the way the songs are put out--"In the style of Kenny Chesney and Grace Potter." So you think it's a duet but Grace's part is provided on the track so it is really just a male solo. Then there are the ones where the DJs name is part of the credits so that's another "and" but it's really not a duet. Then I have some versions of say, the Everly Brothers where the harmony is built in on some tracks but not on others. (Zoom is good about labeling theirs as "harmony" and "no harmony.") So rather than preview every song it may have to be a duet at your own risk list.

Cue, I go even further than that, I ALSO have mine broken into "Oldies" (pre 1985~), "Country", "Newer Pop/Rock", "Male", "Female", "Fun Fast & Familiar" songs. I also have a "reminisce" book for doing retirement homes. I have spent an exhaustive amount of time sorting the songs as accurately as I can and getting the spelling corrected. My wife says I will never get my project done because I am constantly buying cd's, and she might be right. My purpose is to reduce the searching of new songs for singers to sing by letting them hone in on what they like best. A lady that likes to sing country will grab the "Female Country Book" (which is the reverse side, and upside down, of the male country book), etc. Everyone loves my books. I have all my song files sorted into these folder songbook categories so all I do is point my "Song List Generator" to that folder and print a book. Having 4500 unique karaoke cd's makes this quite a huge task, but "time is on my side".

Great idea, Lon. Mark ‘em! I like the neat alphabetical appearance also. Every time I add new songs I print the entire new released portion (not just another page thrown in), but I always get asked which ones are the newly added. Now, recent additional songs are marked with an asterisk for quick & easy visual reference. Thanks!

I print out an updated, alphabetized "New Stuff" every week, as I add new songs, until I get to 6 pages, or so, then I add those songs to the regular book, and start a NEW "New Stuff".

I really hate going to a show and seeing add on pages in the front of the book. What does it say about your company if you have a dozen plus add pages? Even worse, somebody who scans the back disc jacket and drops a grainy image into their book. I can understand if you have a couple new discs and want to include them, but if you have more than a page of additions its time to update your list for the benefit of your drunker audiences. Professionalism does cost a bit more, but its worth it.
