Hi All

I am looking for the karaoke mixer for home use. I am currently looking at the Api M401, Audio2000 AKJ7045. Any idea on which one is the better one. Or is there a better one I should consider?

Thanks

I have the akj7000 and a buddy of mine has the 7050. We love them.

A friend of mine got the 7045, but I've not played with it yet. He has mentioned he's had a few quibbles getting used to it... but he does use it for his home karaoke!

Thanks Knightshow. The AKJ7000 looks like a mixing amplifier. I am planning to connect this mixer to my existing Audio system. I am having the Onkyo receiver with the Bose 15 speaker. Can I connect the audio out of the AKJ7000 to my receiver which already has the Bose speaker connected to it? Would this work?

Thanks

Warn you now, you don't want to use home speakers for karaoke. You can & most likely will eventually blow them.
If you bought a mixer/amp like the 7000, you can use the pre-amp out but why? You are spending money for something you aren't going to use, however if you plan to upgrade & get a couple speakers dedicated for your karaoke habit, then the 7000 (or 7050) will probably work fine for you. These make a fine home karaoke base.
If you do not need the amp at any point, then the API should be your ticket but for the price of the API you could get a nice Mackie board that will sound better in all respects - minus the key changer, but if you have a karaoke player, then key changer on the mixer is not needed.

Thank you very much Lonman. I didn't realize that the Bose speaker is not suitable for Karaoke. It said it can handle 400W of power. If that is the case, I lean toward getting the mixer/amp combo instead.
I am looking for a machine that I can fit into my audio/video cabinet for home use. The Mackie to my understanding is more like for DJ/KJ and it can't fit in my home audio cabinet.

Thanks for very valuable info.

It's not just Bose, home speakers in general aren't designed to handle live situations which karaoke is basically - live vocals. They will work, but they won't sound as good as they could & they are going to try & reproduce signals they aren't designed to.

The Mackie board is a table top board that could sit on a bottom shelf or on top of the entertainment center. Again will give better sound & more versatility overall, but this is something you'd need to consider. Many people have incorporated it into a home system very successfully.

yep, unless the woofer is rated for "live microphone" you'll eventually damage them. maybe early or much later depending on use.

I like the speakers I have gotten... the man that built them flat out asked me what they'd be used for and when I mentioned karaoke, he turned me onto another woofer that was more flexible. You lose a bit in the bass tones, but nothing serious.

Thanks Lonman & Knightshow. Look like I have to shop for the speaker as well. Can you recommend me a good speakers? Front 2 are enough or I also need surround speaks as well.

Thanks

You won't need more than the front 2. They can actually hook into the speaker B outputs on your reciever - most have 2 sets of outputs for the mains. I would look into Yamaha, Peavey, Mackie, even Carvin (available only through Carvin website) for speakers. Make sure the ohms will be compatible with your receiver though. Most receivers will support 8 ohm speakers as long as you don't run both A & B sets together.

Nothing wrong with a pair of powered JBL's and a Behringer mixer for home use either.
