Well......new to me anyway. The entire Karaoke Version catalog is accessible via Karafun. I think it is a mistake to partner with only a single player just like I think it is a mistake for DigiTrax to only be available to stream through Karaoki. But the Cloud Providers and Hosting software companies will figure it out the day a new karaoke program hits the market that will interface with anyone's cloud. -Chris |

Maybe this is not much consolation, but this is a quote from the meager karaokecloudpro.com page: "PCDJ, kJams, CompuHost, Jukebox Jockey and DigiTrax have teamed up to bring you Karaoke Cloud Pro built right in..." |

Nice to see they are expanding their market. I stand corrected. -Chris |

Chris, what don't you get... the cloud is not going to be around for very long. And I will not feel bad at all for all the folks that were crazy enough to "rent" from them, that will have nothing to show for it when it goes under. Such a waste of money. |

I would be surprised to see the Cloud fail - the streaming portion I can see succeeding in the home market - I already know a few people that say they use it at home, however the pro side I don't see working (I did at first but not at that price - I might be interested for something in the $30-50 price tag). However the downloads for the pro side could most definitely keep it sustainable as a business especially if you can download directly from them via the karaoke software. |

What invicion *the people who now on the KJ media pro technology* need to do is develop a completely SEPERATE application that will allow hosts who use other software to still download the tracks, it may not be integrated like compuhost is, but I am 100% sure they would make a heck of a lot more sales than there current setup. They could charge something like 50-$100 for the software and keep the signup fees the way they are. I for one would totally go for it then -James |

The others you mention like Amazon is the cloud done right. For some companies it works out fine for both the company and the customer. On the other hand... Adobe's decision to make people "rent" Photoshop will only see a decline in users, an increase in piracy and they've already been hacked. Yup, they got your personal information... All Of It. So you see Chris, the cloud is not always the best solution. And Bazza, no we're not going to start this up again. |

I guess it's cool if you like watching movies that are 10 years old. If I like a movie, I buy it and add it to my library. |

KaraokeCloud must be doing something right. They are producing new content every month They steadily added other "labels" to their service over the first year They have partnered up with some well know KJ software companies Your prediction that they will not be around very long may or may not come to pass. I think it is too early to say. I think Facebook will fail in 10-15 years. But they will make a LOT of millionaires in that time. -Chris |

That tells me you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s another Alan’s “not engaging the brain before opening the mouth” syndrome. I’ve been using Netflix for years. Not 10yr old movies but Tuesday’s new releases. You just have to return it on Sat, get it on Tue – guaranteed! I can also access thousands of movies instantly via my PS3 or other compatible device to stream direct onto my tv any time at my convenience. Again, not 10yr old’s but fairly recent. It’s been a worthy investment so far. At least I can say I don’t have an overflow of movie collections gathering dust that I’ve only watched once or twice. But, to each his own - you buy, I rent. And Alan, NO, we're not going to start this up again. |

I like to watch old Star Trek Episodes, and other shows. And now they are producing their own shows. |

Alan B wrote: I don't use Netflix. I guess it's cool if you like watching movies that are 10 years old. If I like a movie, I buy it and add it to my library. I watch movies on Hulu+ (for older titles) and I don't use Netflix. I also rent (dl) or stream new releases through iTunes or CinemaNow. I haven't purchased a movie in 6 or 7 years now. My "library" is on the cloud. It consists of every movie ever made (almost ) and I can watch them on several devices. Same with my music. The cloud is "everything, anytime, anywhere - on demand". The other day, I went to purchase some music on iTunes and the album was not available. I went to Amazon, purchased a physical copy and immediately had access to the digital version and was listening to the tracks two days before the physical media arrived. There's where the licensing starts to take a twist. I have no idea why iTunes couldn't license that particular album, it is number 45 in a series (Now That's What I Call Music) of 47 and every other one that I have tried to purchase as a download has been available. The mass media is undergoing a paradigm shift... when media was restricted to print (physicality as opposed to digital) we housed it in huge collections to allow for access by the public... now, the physical nature of the media product is irrelevant, all you have to do is turn on the tap. The library of information and media and the infrastructure of services and equipment that provide it are evolving into a utility, like water, gas, electric, etcetera. The delivery method has changed but the product is essentially the same, just that there are many, many more choices. When cable tv and HBO started, I never thought to myself that I was paying for "renting" movies and I wouldn't have anything to show for it. I was thinking, I didn't have to leave my house to get the movie on my tv and I didn't have to pay $5 for .05 cents worth of popcorn. What relevance is "ownership" of these bits and pieces of information overload? For me, it is about convenience. Let them store it, and maintain it, and protect it. |

As far as the streaming, Netflix came as an app with my tv and offered a free trial so I figured I'd try it. I cancelled and uninstalled it in about 2 minutes. Believe me, old movies that you've already seen. No latest releases. Just junk. Definitely not worth it... for me anyway. But in any case, you are the man, Brian! |

But in any case, you are the man, Brian! Hmmmm 2 minutes? Way to blow a free 30 day trial. There was this chick I met once. In the first two minutes of speaking with her I thought she was snobby, a little full of herself and super-high maintenance. I made up my mind that I wasn't interested in her but kept talking to her anyway. At the 10 minute mark things changed. We are still married 13 years later. -Chris |

You are never negative and usually answer every post like a true gentleman. I wish I could be as nice as you. I, on the other hand, just say what I think and what I feel without stopping to think who I may offend in the process. I mean no harm of course, and just relating my personal experience and views about a topic or situation. I am trying to be honest and helpful. Anyway, like I said, you are the man! ***By the way, Netflix sucks! Just Kidding! I just had to throw that in there. I hope you're laughing. |
