After hearing all of you wonderful singers out there, I was just wondering how you think your voice would be classified--- |

Since I started this poll, I would say that my voice would be classified as a mezzo-soprano, all though I am not afraid to go after soprano songs. I can also sing down into the baritone range, but it is really hard on my voice. |

I'm most comfortable singing in the alto range, I have no idea what my range would be considered though. |

Just FYI even though I haven't submitted (yet) I am a baritone although I can reach tenor and drop to bass. I agree with AllStar his voice should have a new classification J/K Phill |

Here's where the problem comes in.... I was told I was a baritone when I did 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot'. I can also do a pretty good Tennessee Ernie Ford - Baritone (at least I think it's baritone) But.... I can also do: Axle Rose - Not baritone Cartman from Southpark - not baritone - not even close Rap - not baritone Louis Armstrong - gravely Charlie Daniels - not baritone and lots of other artists that aren't even close to being baritone... Where do I select? I chose baritone but I do 'voices' to imitate others including a sometimes decent falsetto... it just so happens that I was lucky to have some variety in my voice... Besides - where is the choice for 'what's a baritone'? Some of us just sing... and hope it comes out good enough to not get boo'd off stage. (IOW, I'm with Allstar...) |

For me it's probably Alto/Contralto. I think I can also go into the tenor range. I can hit a few higher notes on a really good day but can't carry the sopranno range throughout an entire song. |

Disclaimer: I have had this researched professionally by an accredited vocal instructor and looked at this through a vocal tuner to back this up... so this is not an ego thing... I will say that I can go from low tenor to a low soprano NOT Mezzo an actual true low soprano when my voice and lungs are healthy. Mind you I sing with asthma, and maintain it consantly. Singing in high ranges is quite an excersize for me and takes days to build up a good range and also good rest in between such types of acts. Anybody on this site heard my Paula Abdul? |

Tigger.. I would need to have you here in person and do some vocal exercises to know for sure, but from hearing your voice in your submissions, It sounds to me that you are a soprano. maybe a light lyric.. You have a nice light timbre to your voice that seems to be soprano in nature to me I am considered a true lyric soprano which is most evident when I sing anything classical, but I have worked my voice to the tenor range and coloratura range, and I have played around to change the color of it to sound a little more dark when I want it to.. I think labels are good for knowing your voice's "happy place" and where it's home is.. but you should never let that stop you from trying to expand on that and visit some other places Elisha |

Visiting other places is good... especially when there are other KS members there to sing with! |

I wish someone would be kind enough to tell me what I am? I never figure it out myself so with all the experience people here, I'm sure someone will be able to tell me? Thanks |

once upon a time I was in a church choir and the instructor told me to sing something then she shoved me in the soprano group, but holy man!! did they ever sing high. I could barely hit the notes, so i dunno. *shrugs* |
