I'm wondering if anyone out there can help me. My question is: After I've imported a song, can I remove the original vocals?? I have SOO many mp3's that I wanna sing, but I need to remove the vocals first. I checked the help menu.... but it's all gibberish to me. I don't understand the technical terms.

I have Karawin, which does a pretty good job of removing vocals, but with THAT program I can't seem to record or save anything.... maybe I just have a demo or sample version??

someone please share your wisdom with me. But in ENGLISH please!! like "Audacity for dummies!"

THANKS!!!

There are instructions on Audacity's web site outlining the removal of vocals. It has you split the track, reverse the phase of one side, and the resulting playback will remove any vocals that exist on both tracks evenly.

Yes, it's probably gibberish (what I said) but there are pretty detailed instructions on the web site.

BTW, I'd post a link but it would just get deleted.

Instructions from site:
"To attempt this in Audacity, import a stereo recording, then click on the track pop-up menu (the little down-arrow next to the name of the track) and select "Split Stereo Track". Now select the lower track (the right channel) and use the "Invert" effect (from the Effect menu). Finally, use the track pop-up menus to make both channels Mono channels, and then mix them together using Quick Mix. If you're lucky, the vocals will be gone."

Gee KM,
Will ya come to the Lower 48 and show me how to do that sometime...
I'd love to master that manuver... I just use the new Alesis tool for vocal removal.. It would save me the hassle.

And I have Audacity wired all the way to PostFish.

I'm confused...

Why did you pull a thread from 10 days ago to post a reply obviously aimed at attacking me and/or bragging about a professional tool that Crystal doesn't have available to her? If she had an Alesis Tool for vocal removal she's use it wouldn't she?

Given that I can't talk most people into buying a $130 mixer designed for computer recording and a $50 mic I don't see them spending $100 on a tool to remove vocals.

Basically she asked how to do something given a limited tool set, I posted the information she requested....

As for coming to the lower 48 I'll be down in a couple weeks (around Thanksgiving) in Pensacola, Florida. I might even make it up to Shelbyville if everything goes well (to see if Les March on Hooligan Alley has a Miata for sale and to see some friends in Huntsville, Alabama). If you really want me to show you how to do that because you are incapable of reading the directions I provided I suppose I can take some time away from my family and friends that I haven't seen in nearly 2 years to teach you how to use software that is 'clearly inferior' to what you're using in the studio....

I'm in the Very Same - New Mexico "Protools" Studio right now... The very same one I recorded the Song "Livin' It Up (On My Way Down)" Engineering A Project Right now. Not in Tennessee.

If Phill has Caller I.D. He can Verify that. I talked to him today. 8)

As for Audacity, and a few other platforms.. I keep that and Sonar and a couple of other tricks on my firewire drive for my notebook.. they go with me every where I do. Enjoy Florida..

Yes, and the same person that can find out all sorts of information with someone's email address doesn't know that spoofing caller ID is one of the easiest things for a technically savvy person to perform - especially if you use VoIP.

I'm really trying not to lower myself to his standards... but when an old post that seems closed is drawn out for what appears to be only to insult others it's pretty damn hard not to want to smack the hell out of... nevermind.... I'm dropping it. It's not worth the hassle or the time to respond to someone that is obviously suffering from a mental condition... if you're wondering what it is from where I sit it's most likely a borderline personality or delusions of grandeur.

Crystal - let me apologize to you first! Your topic has been high-jacked, but I hope to clear this up.

karaokemeister - thank you for stepping in there to assist. Your knowledge of a multitude of software has made your presence on this site quite welcomed. Please continue!

AllStar & karaokemeister (and many others) - In the future please avoid responding to someone's evident attempts at upsetting you! I know that it is difficult but I am going to handle this and without the finesse that I usually require of ALL MEMBERS! I am crossing the boundaries that are set up on this forum. However, I've just had it!

BeachHeadBum - Enough, already.

A question was asked and answered (quite well I may add)

Your attitude on this site has become again very uncalled for. Normally, I would handle this via a PM or private email and yes even a phone call! - However, they just don't seem to get the point across ever!

You have already had your membership suspended once before because of your attitude.

attitude definition: "A learned predisposition, feeling, or conviction manifesting itself in a general state of readiness either to evaluate or to react toward an object or class of objects in either a favorable or unfavorable manner in a more or less consistent and characteristic way. Attitudes are relatively stable and have three components: a cognitive or belief component, an affective or feeling component, and a connotative or action-disposition component. Although behavior may be a function of attitude at times, attitudes are not necessarily predictors of behavior. Consequently, changes in attitudes do not always result in changes in behavior."

Yes, you have called me (many times) On my Toll-Free line, I may add, that costs me $! Everytime you have called I have tried to be cordial.

Let me advise you that your attitude needs to be adjusted. You "Flame" people.

Flame definition: "Originally, flame meant to carry forth in a passionate manner in the spirit of honorable debate. Flames most often involved the use of flowery language and flaming well was an art form. More recently flame has come to refer to any kind of derogatory comment no matter how witless or crude."

Maybe you are so naive that you do not realize that is what you are doing.

Naive definition: "marked by or showing unaffected simplicity and lack of guile or worldly experience"

I would hate to think that a grown adult is that ignorant.

Ignorant definition: "lacking general education or knowledge; an unlearned group incapable of understanding complex issues; exhibiting contempt for his unlettered companions"

This is not the only post that I have read where you are causing troubles. I know from our conversations and emails that you feel that it has been everyone else starting this. But believe me it is YOU that starts this. I have noticed that you just do not understand or comprehend that it is your actions on this site that have generated this response from others.

You actions on this site are either to "toot your own horn" or belittle others. You claim that you are a professional. However, you act as if you were a child. When someone responds to you in a manner that you feel is unjust - you come crying to me about it. Well, if you would simply stop and consider what you are saying and think about it maybe you wouldn't have this many people upset with you.

I am not referring to the few that have responded in this post, but the multitude of emails and PMs that I receive from others regarding your behavior on this site.

I thought that after your suspension you would come back a "new" man and change your methods. At first, I must admit that you did. However, after a few weeks we are right back where we started. I have had it!

No one not me, the staff, or the members of this site give a "flying Rip" about what your schedule is. What experience you have. How much knowledge you have. Etcetera.

If you would act like a professional, more people would accept you. If you could be more about helping others and provide them with the knowledge and experience, that you claim you have, in a manner that is consistant and helpful, then we would not have had troubles.

At this point, I am done with you. I have much more I would like to say on the matter but I will refrain from using that type of language on this site, out of respect to our members!

If someone from the Staff feels that this post is out of line I am certain that it will be deleted. However, I hope that it is seen by many especially you prior to that occuring!
