Post subject:  Music Maestro on KC?

I just got an email from KC announcing the addition of a few thousand tracks from Music Maestro. I have heard that some of the library was available outside the US, but this is the first time I have heard it is offered for sale here. If my memory serves me, Music Maestro went out of business under threat from various publishers for not licensing their tracks. It seems odd that unlicensed tracks on a defunct manufacturer can suddenly be sold by KC.....

And why is that? Where was it specifically said that a Manufacturer can't pay for licensing on tracks already made (regardless of whether they were licensed before or not), and distribute them under their name?

Music Maestro has been available on Karaoke-Version for quite a while, the tracks has been remastered and the graphic is by far superior  Check out the Elvis tracks, most are the old MM Velvet collection

Music Maestro tracks are on Custom Burn too, but have been rebranded as Easy Karaoke! This is in addition to the traditional EK tracks also available on the site. It appears that everything bar the title screens are the same. The MM codes are reused.

You are right Lord... I was told that Easy is the European distributor for Music Maestro but that they could not use the name as the company went out of business and that MM branded tracks could not be sold.

Remember that K-V is also in Europe (France), so there's now 2 distributors...

That's interesting to know Brad, because I can (and have done many a time) easily get MM tracks with all their original branding from Proburn... which apparently is also run by Easy Karaoke!

The KJ of the karaoke gig I attend the most has some Music Maestro tracks with their title screens removed, under the disc code DWG.

However remember Digitraxx claims they get US licensing for every indiviual tracks from any manu they use (including overseas), if this is the case, then it wouldn't matter if the previous manu made something without permission since Digitraxx is getting the appropriate license needed to sell and distribute for that specific track.

Just because it's the same music doesn't necessarily mean it was directly from Music Maestro. The original recording may have been supplied for Music Maestro, but the studio may have also sold their tracks to other sources as well which could have included KV and/or other manus. It's like SBI tracks now are used by several UK manus - Abraxa, Mr Entertainer, Sunfly, among a few others.
