Thank you for sharing!!! I can't wait to see it!!!
Gretchen, it's really, really good. I have been telling every musician and media person I know to go see it. I have been in the music business (outside of Karaoke) for almost 30 years and there were surprises that I didn't know. Not that long ago, it seems there was a circle of people that sang backup on literally EVERYTHING. All genres.
For example, Merry Clayton is the woman who sings the female part on "Gimme Shelter" by the Stones ("Rape! Murder! Its just a shot away!"). Two takes in her PJ's...pregnant! She's also one of the "Swamper" girls on Sweet Home Alabama, was one of the "Raylettes" on "What I say", was the girl on the original "Shoop Shoop song", etc. Her story is incredible. It just goes on and on, yet she was always in the shadows. People kinda know who Darlene Love is now, but the way she was screwed over by Phil Spector is absolutely heartbreaking.
To see these incredibly talented ladies finally get the recognition they deserve is heartwarming.
