Hey all!! :) I'm playing with new ways to update my selection monthly. Currently use Tricerasoft for individual downloads... but would like to update with new monthly music.

Can't say I've been a huge fan of PHM ever since they've been using Sing It Now, but they're convenient

I was wondering what everyone thinks of Allstar, Quick Hitz (or whatever they're named these days) or Sunfly digital... other options?

I use a digital selection and am looking for best bang for buck.

I'm in Canada too... in case that's important :)

PHM pretty much sucks anymore as far as their newer stuff - not so much the sound, their song choices for releases, very obscure lesser known songs.
All Star is great and you can get prepaid cards and can drop the price per song to as little as $.45 per track.
Digitrax releases monthly as well on a download basis only.

we use All-Stars as our first choice and DT as a back up (due to no discs)

take a look at the last few updates for All Star and Digitrax. if more than 4 or 5 songs each month are being sung now by your singers it may be a good way to go. in my situation, it ends up being less expensive to just buy the few songs that people ask for on the spot and not having the others just languishing. your situation may be vastly different than mine.

I use Mr Entertainer for Pop selection and All Star for the Country
I Agree with Lonman about PHM....not even worth it anymore..I no longer buy their stuff..waste of money

My phm yearly subscription expired, don't buy 'em anymore because their song selections just plain suck.

I HIGHLY AGREE!!!!!!!

The last PHM I bought was either October or November of 2011. After that, their selection of releases became mostly lesser known/lesser popular songs, and I decided that it wasn't worth any further investment.

I have mentioned it in the past and I have received the "difficulty in licensing" schtick.

I e-mailed them 1 year ago, and Tony (VP there) responded back to me. I actually met Tony and his wife back in 2002 (at a mini JOLT Summit in Rhode Island). Like Chris just posted, I got the same Shtick about licensing issues. Tom V. (CEO) has also posted on this site, and pretty much said the same things. So, after several of us letting them know how we felt, it doesn't seem to have changed anything.

I'm now more into the "Let them lose more customers and then go out of business" thoughts. I'm through with them.

I don't have any ill sentiments about PHM. I just don't buy their product any longer because they aren't delivering what I need to satisfy my audience. The moment they produce content that I can use, I will buy again.

This applies to DigiTrax as well btw. They don't produce content that is relevant to my audience and so I don't buy from them either. KaraokeVersion, SBI, ZOOM, Mr. Entertainer have me pretty well covered these days.

Re: phm - It’s really a shame especially when their musical arrangement & instrumentation has improved considerably thru’ the years. Good background tracks, poor songs selection. You win some, you lose some. :)

Honestly it's not about losing money. I can COMPLETELY understand their frustration. I was asked in another thread as to why we are "behind" on putting out the newest hits, as I explained we are in the US and it takes longer for our licenses to come through (if we can get them at all). PHM being another manu in the US, they are having the same difficulty that we are having.

No offense Gretchen ..but all star also said..they had to get permission but they are putting out chart hits..and they are in the US.
it makes me wonder ...PHM...one or two good songs then they fill in the rest with cheaper stuff...they spend less money and make more.....
btw I was wonder is there a list of artist that say NO to having their stuff put out on karaoke????

None taken, If you look at All Star, we are not really releasing the same music. I do seem to remember people complaining about their selections as well.

I used to be the same way about music. But working on this side of things it is very difficult. I'm sure you all realize that popular songs=more money. If we were not abiding by the rules we would be making a heck of a lot more than we are now!! Everyone would have all the songs they wanted. Seems to be a win, win for everyone. But that is the dream world of the music biz.

I did not want to get into a war with anyone, I just wanted everyone to TRY to see how the game works.

Not all manus have the same licenses with the same publishers. Each company is different.
