Post subject:  Track Tracking?

Lately, a lot of my regulars have been suggesting that they'd like to know what has been added to the list recently.

I use one of the online songbook services to keep my listing up to date and I usually post online what I've added, when I've added it. I also have a half-dozen printed books, usually printed once every 6 months. I also use a kiosk for sign up and of course, that list is always up to date.

I am wondering if there is any book-making app that has a feature that can track, chronologically, when a unique track is added.

I could then tell my app to print or display a short list of tracks added in the last week, or month or whatever.

This would also be useful when adding CD+G's to the collection as it could indicate how many "new" tracks are added when ripping multiple discs into the library.

Hosters book maker allows to print between specific dates (day, week, month, year, etc), as soon as a song is added to it's database, it is date stamped when it went in so it can be printed by a date sort. Unfortunately, you'd have to have Hoster.

Song List Generator from Latshaw can accomplish this though it isn't completely obvious. There is an option to append or clear when adding tracks. I always clear, but I keep the new tracks in a separate folder for the import. I generate a song list which I then convert to HTML and post online. Afterwards I merge the tracks with my existing files.

All of the Latshaw apps use the actual file name for generating Track info where as other apps use proprietary databases or even metdata/ID3 tags.

I also use Hoster and can just print off my new addtions until I reprint my books. Just a quick one step process.

If you have a very short list, why not just toss them in MS Excel? Format the columns correctly, and you could even easily export that list into you master database as a comma delimited.

Fast Tracks also allows for printing after a certain date. I believe Music Book Deluxe has this feature too.

I love that feature on Fast Tracks. It keeps track of the date you added songs in, and then you print the book by just selecting to print updates after a certain date.
