It was mentioned in another thread...but here is all the info together in one place. The new site is http://www.MyKJMedia.comThe announcement: Compuhost wrote: Dear valued CompuHost V2 users, We've got some exciting news for you.... KJ Media Pro is back, and better than ever! But the exciting news doesn't stop there... in fact, we're proudly announcing not one, but TWO great "on-demand" content delivery options for you to choose from! Through our strategic alliance with DigiTrax Karaoke, an industry leading innovator in digital Karaoke content, we're happy to offer you both the KJ Media Pro credit based purchase system and the Karaoke Cloud Pro subscription based system, both seamlessly integrated into CompuHost V2! Choose the one that works best for you, or better yet, take advantage of both for the utmost in flexibility and convenience. We'll be publicly releasing these exciting new technologies within the next few days, however we thought we'd give you guys a head start. Please understand that although it's already undergone months of extensive "in the field" testing, it's still technically in the "late-beta" testing phase. To get started you'll need to first download and install the latest "pre-release" revision of CompuHost V2 (v.2.10.00) Then simply visit http://www.mykjmedia.com to create your FREE MyKJMedia profile. From there you can login to your very own MyKJMedia Control Panel anytime, anywhere, conveniently managing the MyKJMedia service(s) of your choice. For further instructions on the use of these two exciting technologies, please refer to the built-in CompuHost V2 Help System under the topic "MyKJMedia Content Delivery System". We hope you enjoy these two great additions to the already extensive list of CompuHost V2 features. Thank you for your continued support, Support Team The Good:Unlike the previous system, the pre-loaded hard drive is now optional. You can either download and "update" your drive or simply unlock & download on the fly if you have internet access. The Karaoke Cloud is also an option (not for me...still too expensive). The Bad:While I am glad it is back and not going to waste, I have mixed emotions about the return of KJMedia pro. First, it appears it will ONLY work with Compuhost v2. A forced upgrade even though v1 works just fine and had this capability. Then there is this fine print "One-time account activation fee of $29.95 applies to initial (first-time) credit orders of less than 100 credits. Account activation fee is waived on initial credit orders of 100 credits or more". This is simply a strong-arm tactic to sell more credits. Can you imagine if iTunes charged a $29 fee unless you bought 100 songs at a time?! I can't remember...but I'm pretty sure the price per song has gone UP as well: 20 Credits $49.80* ($2.49 ea.) 50 Credits $114.50* ($2.29 ea.) 100 Credits $199.00 ($1.99 ea.) 250 Credits $447.50 ($1.79 ea.) 500 Credits $745.00 ($1.49 ea.)

It is also tied to a specific piece of hosting software so even if I wanted it, I can't use it.

I am a Compuhost v1 user, and the combo with KJ Media Pro was excellent. I have missed it. But the added fees and upgrade costs have left a sour taste in my mouth.
I'll probably bite the bullet and do it anyway as the ability to unlock songs instantly was very, very slick.
Still questions remain:
What happens to the old CB songs on my KJP drive now? Unlockable? Worthless? Will my serialized ID be different? I assume so as it's a whole new account management system.
If I could have just used my existing v1 and just bought more credits, I would have already spent the money.

-Chris Well if you wanted to buy Compuhost host JUST for the unlocking, then the songs could be transferred to work with the other hosting softwares. Kind of an expensive way to get it. I thought about it when it was CB, but decided against it. Only thing that MIGHT persuade me is if they are going through DT, then it has other manus that they offer through their download site i'd imagine making it a more worthwhile decision.

I think it is all going through the DT library. I looked at the song list and it squarely misses on classic rock just as the DT library does. 20 Rhianna tracks, no Fleetwood mac Rhianna. I guess it's just a me thing..

Yes, looks like the DT library. I'm thinking of going with it, but $100 to upgrade to V2 in order to do it, plus the inflated cost of the tracks is sure making me drag my feet.

So what they're saying is...
"We understand that you were screwed over when you bought the MediaPro. We know that you have no other options. So, here's an option. Pay us $29."
I'd tell them to get bent, just on principle alone.

You have to remember, this was owned/operated by Chartbuster. Compuhost took it over when CB died. I would imagine there would be some different pricing structure.

Well, actually its just you not being a good speller thing. The Fleetwood Mac song is called "Rhiannon" and the pop singer from Barbados is named "Rihanna". You may get some results this time you search.

Even if he would have spelled Rhiannon correctly, he's absolutely right - no Fleetwood Mac songs, so spelling would be moot point with that particular song.

IF it is just the KC library, it is cheaper to download on the fly at $1.99 each. but if you can get the CB library already on the drive......maybe.

If you bothered to go to the Media Pro site from the link, and you bothered to click the link that takes you to a library list, you would see there isn't a search function. It's just a list you can scroll up and down by artist. It will then be obvious when you get to the Rihanna and Fleetwook Mac lists respectively. I think they have three Fleetwood Mac songs. All are Christie McVie. None are Stevie Nicks and none are Lindsey Buckingham. I thought Fleetwood Mac was an interesting choice for several reasons. One, they are a band that has\had several players that wrote and composed songs outside the band first, then brought those songs into the band when it was time to go into the studio. One could easily like only 1/3 of the Fleetwood Mac songs if one liked one of the the three leads and not the other two. Obviously, someone who put the DT library together likes the Christie McVie sound. While Fleetwood Mac is\are big in the US, they were\are even bigger in the UK, which is where much of the Karaoke is being produced now from my understanding. DT is suppose to be working on Licensing, but I would think the Fleetwood Mac catalog would be under one publisher. Maybe not, but I would think that is a fair assumption. So the lack of other selections from them would seem to be more of a personal choice than a legal issue. I know how to spell: Journey 0 Foreigner 0 Styx 1 REO Speedwagon 0 Kansas 2 Matchbox 20 0 John Mellencamp 0 Moody Blues 0 Jimmy Buffett 3 (Including a duet and No Margaritaville or Fins) Heart 8 (Not Bad!) Def Leppard 11 (OK!!) Doobie Brothers 3 (No Black Water) Eagles 1 (Please Come home for Christmas.. This is a crime!!!) Pat Benatar 6 (I would have been fine with just "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" so this works!!) CCR 3 That is fifteen various rock artists\groups of which probably have 150-200 songs combined together were on any given night I would get asked for probably two or three of them. Of course your singers choices will vary. People are ok if they ask for some songs and you don't have it. But you best have it when they ask for "Don't Stop believin" or "Take it Easy" or "Margaritaville ". As you can see, I didn't just pick out the bad ones but thought of singer I had and songs they requested. I had a black guy, for instance, that did any and every Journey song I could find all the way down to "Mother, Father" and "Still They Ride". My CCR guy never sang any of the three CCR songs in the list. My Buffett\Zac Brown guy would have to settle for "Toes" and "Come Monday" (which he never did). My Fleetwood Mac lady did the Stevie Nicks songs so she would be toast. I would get asked to do Def, REO and Foreigner type stuff. This isn't a spelling thing. This is a, "There is a serious hole in this catalog" thing.

The appeal of the KJP system to me was the ability to get NEW music ala-carte, on demand instead of having to guess what new songs people wanted to sing. That is a valid point that needs to be made, Bazza. I really don't know why I've taken on the serious hole cause, as I already have all the tracks that I looked for. I think I only have three or four Rihanna songs. So it is a service that I could make use of to fill in the newer stuff. I guess at this point I am waiting for samples. I was also waiting to see if they (DT) were going to go all Sound Choice, but I don't think that is going to happen.

I can't believe that after all this time that someone hasn't figured out the unlocking encryption code for the media pro and unlocked all their songs. I just glad I never went that route.

Any song that remain unlocked (unless you have available unused credits) on the original KJMP were only licensed under the CB logo and since CB is no longer in business the licensing of the songs is now void for future sales in that configuration. DT is having to reapply for all new licensing.
