Have you ever performed/listened to a song that you enjoyed so much, you wish it was longer? Mine is "Colour My World" by Chicago. It seemed so much longer back in the 70's, but it's got a one minute intro, one minute vocals, one minute outro. Whenever I sing it, the drunken couples come stumbling up to slow dance, but by the time they manage to find their poor feet, the song is over! Then they ask if I will sing it again. I only did that once, on a slow rotation night. Usually, I want to sing my turn, sit, and watch everyone else. Now what are your favorite short songs? |

What a Wonderful World. It's not that long but when I'm done I just want to do more of it... Wish I could find a release on CD+G that contains a short talk he did about what the song means... now that would be cool.... |

I LOVE Pride and Joy. I wish there would be another break then maybe a reprise of the first verse. Great tune. |

The song, "From The Beginning," by ELP is a nice song too, but it's short on words, long on funky synthesizer. |

The end of "All Good People." To its credit, at least it keeps changing keys around the circle of fifths. |

Manhattans ~ Kiss and Say Goodbye. Love it. Should've had less talking and more singing. |

Too little - Time of Your Life - Green Day. Half the song is the instrumental in the middle, and it's such a cool song. Too much - All Apologies - Nirvana. I think what Kurt's trying to say is "All in all is all we are." And he only has to say it 26 times to get the idea across. And throw in that feedback (at least on the SC version) for added annoyance. |

I love MAGIC MAN by Heart. Awesome guitar music in the middle for about 43 measues and it feels strange to just stand there waiting for the graphics to start again. I look so silly playing air guitar. |

Tammy, Kiss and Say Goobye is an AWESOME song. But I think it should have more talking AND more singing. The talking part is cool! |

Tequilla is a good song for getting newbies up to sing. I have started many a Karaoke singer off with that one. |

I look so silly playing air guitar. "Come Sail Away" by Styx and "Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche have this same problem. Each has a fiftysomething measure instrumental break in the middle. I've came across a version of Silent Lucidity that shortened it down to 20 measures, which was cool, not sure which brand. There's an abbreviated version of Come Sail Away (Sound Choice maybe?) that is just awful, it cuts out half the lyrics of the song. "Fascination Street" by the Cure is a cool song, but it starts with 2 minutes of instrumental. Works fine for the record, but as a karaoke song it's not so hot. "Tom's Diner" by Suzanne Vega is fun to watch somebody do just because half the song is "do do do do do do do do" so you just get multiple screens full of "do"s. |

well, with Queenryche's "Silent Lucidity", you're supposed to ENJOY the music! |

I never thought of doing that one on karaoke. Is there much music backing to that one? I know she does an acapella version that kicks a**. I don't remember how the instrumental is on the other version. I guess I'll have to pull out my CD and listen. Might be a good challenge for me to try to sing. |
