Now that Ive purchased karaoke songs (from the computer) Im thinking that it would of been a really good idea to figure out how to convert it to a disc which I obviously dont. I do have a plexwriter that i used to back up my collection but I cant figure out if I have the right kind of file or how to put it on disc. Any help would be great. I know that this subject has been talked about before but Im having no luck finding it and I cant remember what software was spoke about to do this.

to RIP your own tracks you need software that recognizes the subcode.

cdrwin from goldenhawk, and tricerasoft both have rippers.

MTU has it's own proprietary one.

Once they are ripped, you'll need to convert them from the .bin files to mp3g or wma-g.

This is what I do:

All my karaoke files are saved on my computer as .zip files. In these .zip files, I have an .MP3 and a .CDG

Lets say (for easyness sakes) I am making a CD of two songs that I want to play on my karaoke machine that displays the words and plays the music.

When I make a new CD, I create a folder on my desktop called "New CD". Then, I go to my .zip files and find the two songs that I want. We will call them #1 and #2. I copy the .MP3 and .CDG from the .zip file copy them into the "New CD" folder. I do the same for song #2.

So, now in your New CD folder, there should be four files. Two .MP3 and two .CDG. Be sure that your MP3 is named EXACTLY the same as the CDG, or else it won't work

Example:

song#1.mp3
song#1.cdg
song#2.mp3
song#2.cdg

Next, there is a program called MP3+G Toolz that you should be able to get as freeware off the internet.

Once you have this tool installed, you right click on your "New CD" folder, and it should give you some options. The one you want is CDG to Bin someting or other. Whatever it is to get you to creat BIN Files.

When you select this option, it will then merge your files into .bin files and .raw files. Your folder will look something like this:

song#1.bin
song#1.raw
song#1.mp3
song#1.cdg
song#2.bin
song#2.raw
song#2.mp3
song#2.cdg

The .raw files mean nothing. They can be deleted. The only files that you will need to create the CD+G CD is the .BIN files. The CDG and MP3 files are not needed anymore, so they can be moved out of this folder.

Once you have a folder with just the .BIN Files, you will need to use a program called CDRWin from Goldenhawk to burn the CD's with your plexitor CD writer.

You can download a trial version from Goldenhawk, which lasts forever, but just keeps your speed down to 1x writing, which is not a bad thing. First, the slower you write, the better the quality, and 2), it only takes 15 minutes to burn 16 songs onto the CD.

Once you open this program, you will see a button that says load tracks. click this button and it will take you to a window that will allow you to add your tracks.

At the top of this window you will see a couple options with radio buttons as follows (the smilies indicate radio button):

:!: Audio :!: CDG :!: (something else)

Be sure that the black dot is in the radio button beside CDG. IF THIS IS NOT DONE IT WILL BURN AS AN AUDIO CD!! VERY IMPORTANT STEP!

Once this is done, you can press okay, and it will compile a cuesheet for you, show you how many tracks you have, and how long it will take to write the disk. All you have to do now is be sure the drive is set to your plexitor, and press record :)

While I am recording, I do not use any other programs, as this has given me an error before (not a big one, just at the last song of the disk, the last couple of seconds of the song get "stuck"). I find that if it is just CDRWin running, it burns without errors.

weel I got all excited because I thought I was about to make a cdg. Then just like always something goes wrong just as I hit ok for cdrwin to make the cue sheet I have this error pop up saying CDROM Recording Tools for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Man, you are not having a lot of luck :(

Not sure bout that one........That may just be your CDROM drive perhaps not installed correctly, or you may not have the correct drivers for your computer.............

Any one else wanna take a stab?? I am by far no comptuer genius.

go to the goldenhawk folder, and look at the error log.

Sometimes, weird named files will throw off the recording process. Keep it simple.

sc8554-01.bin
sc8554-02.bin
sc8554-03.bin
sc8554-04.bin etc

Uh....just the obvious...but make sure your Plextor shows up as the drive you're copying to....(yes, I mention this because I've forgotten this very simple step...duh! :oops: ) Good luck!

Ok so I got the cdg broken down into a bin file then converted the bin into mp3+g seperate files and then saved each song as a zip file. I have performed this on my desktop computer but now I need to know how to put this info on my laptop and in what form will my laptop play the mp3+g. Will it play out of the zipped file or does it have to be changed to something else. I will be running pcdj karaoke. If there is a better software for me to run with my laptop Im open to any help!!!

there are several ways to do this.

If you want to play them in the zip files, you can either use sax & dotty's zip player...

or their hoster program

or mtu's hoster

I think cavs show hoster works off zipped files too.

OR you can put them all in their own folders and use the winamp player with the cdg window.

My buddy likes doing that best. Why use another program when the regular winamp works fine, with a plugin for the cdg option. there's even a "pacemaker" plugin .

Are there any DJ'S or KJ'S here that use PCDJ? I downloaded the DJ demo and was relly impressed They say it has a cdg ripper that rips to mp3 wma and wav with any brand of cd drive. The karaoke plugin (I'll let you discover the price its a little much for my old pocketbook right now for the whole enchilada) The karaoke PCDJKJ (also in a stand alone version) has the dual screen with preview and works with the cross fade for fill music.
The demo was put on my OS with all the utilities Its a dual cd player As soon as I pointed to the mp3 folder and hit the shuffle button it started doin its thing I really like the audio engine too. Id be real interested in a review by a KJ thats usin it....

I am new to this site but came across this posting and found it quite interesting.
I have winzip files on my computer that I would like to put onto a disc so I can play them on my standalone Karaoke player but when I unzip the files they open up an mp3 file and also an icon that says Karaoke for DirectX. Each song is in its own winzip but I don't know what to do with these other than play them on my computer.

Can you help me here?? :confused:

if it's a .cdg file, you con convert the .mp3 and the .cdg file into a .bin file and burn it on a disc.

If it's the wma and the graphic file, you'll need to do the research on that.

there's a file called mp3toolz that will do the combining!

You'll need a burner capable of reading the files.

Although, I DO hesitate to ask where you got these files to begin with.

I love the pkDJ Red. I haven't had a chance to play around with PCKJ or the additional plugin with it. but as for the mp3 mixing, the RED player is astounding!
