I just coverted from my JVC303 karaoke player to a larger setup to accomodate the large music collection I have. The player is a Sony 400 Disc CD/DVD changer hooked "optical" to the Vocopro DTX-5000G Mixer/Decoder.

99% of my discs all play correct. However a couple of my discs are VCD formatted discs. These either I got from a local Karaoke store or could have been Target. They are called "Super Hits VCD Karaoke" or
"VCDSH-034" would be the tag name.

The player plays all my other discs (eg Sound Choice, DMM, SGB, etc) as "CD", but these are, VCD. The words and picture is not coming across the decoder.

Any ideas on what else to do or try??

VCD's are a differant format altogether than CDG DVD CD CDR etc.
It would seem that the SONY does not handle the VCD format while the
JVC 303 does....

maybe hooking up an apex dvd player...

this is why I don't like going away from my JVC 303... it's tried, trusted and true.

Your decoder won't play vcd's. You would have to switch from the decoder mode to dvd mode to play them. In other words an evternal DVD would be the best solution.

I use a Sony 400 disc changer as well...it will not play vcd's , so I use a JVC tripple tray player for those discs. It also works great for playing filler music.A couple of weeks ago I did a wedding reception and used nothing but the JVC player for playing DJ music , it's awesome. Good luck

Huh?
If the player doesn't read VCDs, how can the mixer/decoder force it to?
Magic crystals?
Please explain using small words that I can understand.

How does the Vocopro DTX-5000G Mixer/Decoder perform?
