I was bored, and was browsing the net, and I came across a website that has the neatest device (if you want the address, please PM Me)

Anywho, This is what I found:

Digital Karaoke Video Mixer

***This item will ship in 1-2 business days***
*Connect your CD+G player and your video camera, or camcorder to the DVM-100G and instantly you have a choice of new viewing options for up to two screens
*Digitally compresses and superimposes the song lyrics to the bottom of the screen while the entire background displays the singer, or whatever you focus the camera on (even the audience).
*Two separate video outputs, one to use for the main screen and one for the singer's monitor.
*You can connect a standard computer keyboard directly to it's built-in keyboard jack and type any message of your choice.
*Connect the DVM-100G to a VCR and give your performers the option of buying a tape of their performance!

Now, this kinda does two things........it kinda answers the question of "Can you put a singers performance on CD and sell it to them?" as the last option tells you can sell the singers performance. However, I don't know if they looked into all the rights, etc. etc. You would have to contact the site owners (again, PM me if you want the address).

However, I think that would be the neatest tool to have! You can watch yourself sing on the monitor while looking at the words. I think it would even be the neatest thing just for home purposes. You can make videos and give them to family and friends for things like xmas and such!

Anywho, that was my excitement for the day. What is everyone else's thoughts ??

Have a great day :)

Ritisroo, first of all, let me share a little secret with you. NEVER, EVER make a statement like

"The Neatest Karaoke Device :)" as a heading for a new subject. I once made the mistake with the following statement

Forum: KJs ONLY Posted: Wed Jun 09, 2004 9:47 am Subject: The biggest single improvement....... and got slammed so hard to the ground by certain people, I'm still carry the bruises!!

But, I actually found the "device" your are talking about, and I think that's pretty cool. I would like to look into that, but this is one of the items I would demo on my own system before buying. The features sound great, but that's what advertising is about. Also, I do have no information on the VocoPro and would strongly recommend talking to Lonman or KnightShow regarding the quality of this name brand. Both these people have extensive knowledge on KJ equipment and I wouldn't buy any brand they do not recommend.

Thanks for the advice, All Star!

I don't think I would buy it as I don't host shows, and I think it would be a hassle :) I just thought it was cool as I always wondered if there was something like that out there. I guess I got my answer :)

Yeah, brand names would be kinda scary.....but sometimes the little brands can do wonders :) I would definately try to look into it more before spending that much money, and I am sure the guys you mentioned know a heck of a lot more than I do, and would more than welcome their comments..........guys???

Thanks!

I've been using one for close to a year now. The singer sees the regular karaoke screen. I use a video camera and have the singer with the words superimposed showing on my projection TV screen (5x8 foot screen) You'd be suprised how many people are singing along with the singer watching the words on the big screen. Other options would be words only on the 2nd screen, video only on the 2nd screen or split screen (top and bottom) with video on top and words on the bottom or words only on screen with a small video screen in the top right or left corner. (picture in a picture) It has a keyboard input, but I've not tried it out since running the show keeps me busy enough.
I was somewhat skeptical about the Vocopro brand, but since this is strictly electronic (no moving parts) component, I gave it a try. So far so good although I don't think I'd purchase a CDG player from them given their reputation.

Seems pretty cool but the licensing on the recording side can be a pain and/or expensive.

This seems pretty nice and some of the features are unusual (splitscreen) but similar effects can be put together w/ any picture in picture equipment - the singer on the main screen, lyrics in a small picture to the side. It would likely be cheaper as well.

Other alternatives:
Comprehensive CVG-PIP200 Multi-Standard Picture-in-Picture Video Inserter, RS-232, Rackmountable - $729 (ouch)

PIP-1 PiP Picture in Picture Adaptor (SCART with Remote) - 127.66 inc. VAT (about $250)

CIP-2 PiP Picture in Picture adaptor - 114.89 exc. VAT (about $230)

Zinwell CIP-2 Picture in Picture Color Quad and PIP Processor - $155

Just some options...hmmm.... one of these, a camera, and a projector would make a nice portable setup.

The effect I use most is the superimpose, I have the singer full screen and the lyrics "superimposed" over the video at the bottom. It removes the colored background (usually blue) and just leaves the words.
