					| Purchased my first All Star Karaoke Disk - Mainly because it has "Red Solo Cup" on it by Toby Keith (couldn't find any other manufacturer that carried this tune yet). Anyway, I was going to move this to my laptop but was unable to convert to mp3+G or .zip so I can use it with Sax & Dotties. When I put it in my PC it lets me download it to my hard drive as a Windows Media Video file.
Has anyone else purchased this CD - if so, how are you using it? Surely I don't have to run Windows Media Player when someone requests this song?

Thanx in advance for the help!

					| Well, I don't have the solution but may have the explanation. All Star has been putting out what they call "hybrid" karaoke discs that will play in both a CDG player or "turn your home computer into a karaoke machine." So they may have picked Windows as the format as most home users would have that.

					| I believe you are right LL. It must be a hybrid disk. Well, since I don't have a CD+G player anymore and I don't really want to use Windows Media Player, I guess I just flushed that money down the drain. Thanx for the update on Fast Trax P.K.... I have bought quite a few of their discs. In fact, since I seen your post, I went ahead and ordered mine off ebay. When I ordered the All Star 3 weeks ago, the Fast Trax wasn't available yet. Next time, I guess I'll have to be more patient and wait for the discs I usually buy. Thank you all..._________________

					| The 'hybrid' is the part where you can play in a standard cdg player (like any cdg would) AND any computer - it has both formats on the disc. I know other hosts with this disc ripped successfully. I suspect it is not being ripped correctly, what are you using to rip them? _________________LIKE Lonman on Facebook - Lonman Productions Karaoke & my main site via my profile!

					| Put it in the drive and explore it. (open my computer , right click the cd drive , left click explore and you will be able to get at the cdg version you want )
cdgrip also found the correct version for me w/o any trouble.

					| the problem is with the "hybrid" format. We have purchased quite a few customs from All-Star using the cards from Target with no problems. Ed G's solution will allow you to rip it to your computer with no problem. It was not a waste of money. If you wish to use all-star buy the target cards for $20 and pick your songs in cdg format and you will have no problem (3 15 song customs shipped for $20 can't be beat and they have some great new songs). Hope you have as great a time with "red solo cup" as we have

					| Hi All...
I am actually coming back to this and was ready to try again to rip my All-Star Karaoke disc so I can use it in Sax & Dotties.

I was able to view the karaoke song play just fine in Windows Media Player, but I really need to convert this to MP3+G so I can use in Sax & Dotties.

I have a Plextor burner and use Power CD+G Burner version 1.5.7 for conversion. It is unable to detect tracks.

When I right click and explore the disc, I get an autorun, readme, and an HTML start along with an assets folder. The Assets folder contains a large media file that says type "Windows Media Player Download Package". there is also an images folder that contains, well, images.

I must really be missing something. Thank you in advance for your help on this!

					| Maybe download the media package, it's possible it has what you need to unlock the tracks?? _________________LIKE Lonman on Facebook - Lonman Productions Karaoke & my main site via my profile!

					| Just GO TO ALLSTAR'S website and download it. Since you already have the disc it shouldn't pose a legal problem. _________________

					| I don't have this particular disk but I have quite a few (from a set from Karaoke Warehouse), some of those being hybrid and I don't recall having any issues ripping them.

I also use Sax&Dotty. Had problems at the time trying to convert, every time I drop the cd to the drive the Win Media player opens. One of the forum members suggested download MP3+G Toolz (Free download) & use that for my conversion to .zip. Try that program if you haven’t yet. Ripped from your Power Karaoke cdg Burner, look for the folder (ex: All Star 001), right click to that to open MP3+G Toolz, then click “Convert Audio cdg to Zip”. After conversion, import to your drive. That actually worked for me. Hope that helps. Good luck._________________

					| Again I don't have this disk but have no trouble ripping other hybrid All-Star disks.
Do you have auto-play turned on your CD drive?

I didn't know they put those on any of their hybrids, the ones I have actually have the cdg files. You cannot convert wmv to mp3g. These are video files. You need a karaoke software capable of playing video files like MTU Hoster or Karma. Like someone suggested, you will probably be better off just downloading the songs from their site in mp3g format.http://www.allstarcustom.com/custom-step2.cfm_________________LIKE Lonman on Facebook - Lonman Productions Karaoke & my main site via my profile!
