I'm a KJ in WA state with a new gig in a recently-opened pub. For the first time I'm experiencing severe wireless mic problems. I've tried switching channels but it didn't help. I'm getting either a loud screeching noise (NOT due to feedback or low batteries) or the mic just cuts out completely. I'm running a Martin Roland 600w mixer (and I've never had the mic vol up past 4) and I'm in a smaller room off the main room. Could it be some kind of interference? Please help, my customers are whining about having to use corded mikes! Thanks so much!

Ocean Shores... it's on the coast south of Seattle. Sleepy town except this coming weekend (1,000 bikers coming to town!)

Right on! Go there all the time. Which place at Ocean Shores - or what did it used to be anyway?

Is there a lot of neon in the room???
You may have to go wired. Be prepared!! OR get a higher end wireless mic!

knightshow makes a good point. Every so often I'll dj (and kj) a party to where my VHF wireless mics will start freaking out on me (doing some of the same things yours are doing). When that happens, I get the UHF wireless out and use that myself for announcing, and hook up 4 wired mics for the singers to use (I have a mic mixer that allows me to hook up 8 wired mics at one time). It's a bad time to have a wireless mic start screeching or dropping out when a bridal party is giving their speeches.
Best wishes,
Will

Yes, I was prepared, pulled out the wired mikes and went on with the show. And someone else mentioned to me about the neon, and there are a lot of neon beer signs in the other room. Sure wish I could solve this, though, as this will be a very long-term gig! Are there filters or something like that I could use?
Thanks all for your input.
BTW, does Sammy do this forum any more? We used to be friends before I moved... (I'm from La La land, just moved to WA in March).
