Post subject:  Adding echo or other enhancements to voice
Every so often while I'm dj'ing people want karaoke. Up to now, I've always just used up to 4-XLR mics that plug into a mic mixer (it can handle up to 8 mics), which then feeds into the XLR mic jack on my Pyramid 6-channel mixer. The mixer feeds out to two- PV-2600 amps (one for my 1000 watt 8-ohm subs, and the other takes the mids and highs to 800 watt 4-ohm 3-way speakers).
For the video side, I use 3 dvd players. Two are for music videos, and the 3rd I can either play music videos or cd+g cd's. All 3 feed out to a video switcher, which feeds a video amp, and then goes out to two tv's and a video projector.

This past Saturday I had someone who wanted to add echo to his voice, as well as add a little "boost" to it (whatever that means - lol). I'm not worried about key-changing, as the dvd player lets me do that. Is there anything fairly inexpensive I can buy that will let me add echo to someone's singing, as well as maybe help them sound a little better?

It's all what your mixer will allow you to add - mainly.

If it can accept outside processing, then i'd add something like the Lexicon MPX110, this will give you multiple variations on effects.

I run multiple effect in my systems allowing for different sounds for different songs. I do have a standard effect - usually a base reverb for most, but I also like to run a little echo (delay) & mix it into the reverb or add a chorus effect to certain songs. It just depends on the song mainly or what the singer requests.

The "boost" he was asking for was more than likely to turn the mics up or to add a little bass if it seemed lacking.

I use a Digitech S100 procesor.
Goto www.digitech.com and click onto the products list and then look at the studio effects. You will find 3 differant processors there that wiil work for you. There is the S100, the S200, and the Quad 4.
I don't know anything about the Lexicon processor, so I can't give an opinion on which is the better of the 2 brands. Both are reputable companys.
I can tell you that the S100 serves me just fine and has a rackmount design.

Like Lonman said, the boost that the singer requested would probability be satified by turning up the mic a little.

Actually, I had the singer turned up pretty darn high. I'm thinking more along the lines of him wanting echo and bass.

I appreciate all of the responses. I will look at all of the equipment mentioned.
