Post subject: | SX300 vs ZX4 |
I just found a pair of EV ZX4's NEW on ebay and was copnsidering upgrading my SX300's. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... R:AU:1123.. Got rid of the monstrous JBL 18 inch sub and I find I am doing slightly larger gigs now. Has anyone used the ZX4 and how do they compare to the SX300s? Is the bass response much better? Thanks Vic in Sydney |

Those two speakers use the exact same series of HF compression drivers, the DH2005/DH2010, depending on which sx300 model year you have. So that just leaves the LF driver. The sx300 is obviously a 12" while the ZX4 is a 15". The DL12BFH LF driver in the sx3000 handles 600 watts RMS @ 8 ohms and retails separately for about $190.00. The EVS15-SF LF driver in the ZX4 handles 800 watts RMS @ 8 ohms and retails separately for $260.00. So, your highs in both speakers are going to be exactly the same. If you power the ZX4 correctly (800 watts/8 ohms to each speaker), then they are obviously going to sound much better in the LF range than the 12" sx300s would. Hope that helps!! |
