And this would be out of how many songs total (counting the dups) - between the two systems? And then how many did you have after removing the dups? |

Total songs 20945 or 12110 without dupes Rig 1: 12200 or 8639 without dupes Rig 2: 8745 or 6700 without dupes The total dupes count will only get higher as I continue to reduce the difference between the rigs. On nights when I only have 1 show I use the combined rig, on nights when I have two shows I use the separated rigs. It doesn't help when the SC Headbanging Hits Pack changed from a 12 to a 10 pack and even then changed out 1 more disc. - Jonn |

Not sure how to run a query in Access to figure the most dup'd, but my rig actually has 16,000 songs, 12,000 without dups. |

Lonman, I think yours is a VERY low percentage of dupes. I have around 14,600 songs, 8985 individual without dupes. Rosario |

Rosario When I buy discs I look at what I already have & compare it to what is on a new disc. If I already have many of the songs, I will decline to buy that disc unless it was a song I absolutely needed (requested that was only on one disc) - or for an upgrade to a better version (which is rare), but would still look for other alternatives first if available - I do mostly custom discs now so I just get what I need adn for new releases pretty much stay with Chartbuster at this time as to not get an overlap of the same releases from other manus. That percentage is a lot higher now than it used to be as I did do a lot of close out buying on around 100 Sound Choice discs a couple years back in which they were between 3-5 bucks each - so I did duplicate a lot more songs than I normally would have, but at least it wasn't at $15 per disc. |

you should be able to use basic sql queries in access (I think this is part of an advanced query option) along the lines of... select count(*) from songbook // total number of tracks select count(distinct artist, song) from songbook // without dupes. I'm still in expansion mode, filling out the differences between the rigs as well as potentially preparing for a third rig (for private parties). When a new disc comes in it gets compared against the existing rigs to see which rig would get the most benefit from adding it. Once added I get to reorder which version is preferable and also move individual downloaded songs from one rig to the other. I try to use targeted purchasing but the bulk sales on ebay are the only way to get Sound Choice back catalog titles which (rightly or wrongly) are 'preferred' by singers. - Jonn |

I wonder if it would be safe to say that these most duplicated songs are also some of the core songs that every kj should have in their collection--after all, just about every karaoke manufacturer decided they were worth doing! |

That is a key factor in why so many of those songs are dup'd. Every manu is obviously going to make their own version of the most popular (although I think these lists should be seriously updated as only maybe 7 of the songs from that top 30 in the OP get done at our shows on occasion) for their own core library for those that are 'brand' loyal and wish to stay within one series or what not. It's when the same manu puts the same song out on several different series and sometime within the same series for best of discs or artist series. They are almost all guilty of doing that at some point. |
