My partner DJ'ed my stepdaughters wedding over the weekend. It went quite well, actually. We had given her a list of all our stock MP3's, and she highlighted the ones she wanted us to play in advance.
It went from 2:00pm - 7:00pm - and even though we weren't really planning on having people sing Karaoke, some of the guests actually did get up and sing a few songs. We got a lot of compliments as well.
The only bummer was that it was an outdoor event - and it was 100+ degrees outside and not a lot of shade. Next thing on my list is an ez-up so I can have some shade next time. Nobody likes a DJ who is dripping with sweat.
Later that night, I went to a party and met up with someone who now has told my partner and I "We're hired" to DJ a shower at his house on the 15th. Old School, Funk, Disco and Dance Music.
I'm going to prolly go out and get some lighting effects for this next gig.
