Post subject:  Copying CDG... is it legal?

Hello everybody. I'm new to the forum here. I need some of your expertise.

I bought my equipment off a guy that said it is illegal to copy the CDG's as backups and use them as well as the originals for gigs. Is this true? You can see why I'm asking. Because it would save me money if I wanted to run a second system, which I'm thinking about doing.

If it is legal what is the best way of going about copying the CDGs? Is their a CDG writer available to purchase on the market? Thanks.

It is not legal.

If you want 2 systems, you must have 2 sets of disks.

you can clone a disk, but Is it fair to the writers, and mfg's

Most law is based on fairness, as well as common sense.

exactly!

I copy my originals, but I DO NOT use the masters in my shows.

It's all about what's fair. If you paid for two libraries, then you have the right for two seperate shows at the same time!
