I have asked a couple of questions lately regarding Plextor Drives and what it takes to back up CDG library. I have seen the drives that "plug into" a computer, but I have also seen a stand alone CDG (Plextor) copier that does not use a computer. Instead you just place the original in one tray and the disc you want copied into the other tray. Has anyone else seen these "stand alone" CDG copiers??? If so which one is the way to go??

The CD duplicator's function is limited to duping a cd. With an internal or external CDR/RW drive you can make custom CDG's, play or read disks, etc. In other words, it is integrated into your multi-media pc. Also, I do not know how the duplicators handle copy protected discs. I would think that duplicators without a hard drive would burn discs at a slower rate than those so equipped.

A CDR/RW running from a pc seems to be more versatile (IMHO)

If you had a computer, and Microstudio...... and had 20 cdg's of which you only used 1 track each off of, you could also use it to create 1 cdg with all of those tracks only on it.

Seems I have made 6 cdg's with over 120 songs on them that gets a LOT OF USE . where I have a couple of hundred disks, that never gets used. It seems easier to carry the 6 I like. You dont have a option to do this with a duplicator. besides microstudio will also let you play the Karaoke disk from the computer!!
